A few maps are okay for TDM. Rest are pretty bad in DM, Duel, or even TDM or modes like LMS. If you want a real DM wad go play Lazarus or Exec.

I think these maps are okay in terms of playability. They looks better but play worse than the first. This is about a million times better than gothic99 though. We don't speak of that dark chapter..

Horrid. Cramped maps with obstructive detailing, or plain, uninspired layouts or bad item placement or all 3. Sometimes you'll come across a half-decent layout but issues like item placement let it down regardless. Maps are pretty tho, and you could maybe have an ok duel on one or two but otherwise this mapset isn't much more than an art gallery. -Marcaek

"0 stars - vomit" That pretty much describes this. It's a whole load of "oh look at how much detail we can cram, and push gameplay aside". Why people even like this is beyond me. -deathz0r

Most of these levels don't look like they've even been teste din DM, with far too cramped layout and annoying architecture getting in the way. Not to mention the weapon placement in most of the maps. 1/5 (for aesthetics)

For a long time I was enamored with the sheer prettiness of these levels, and they still are probably the most beautiful doom2.exe - compatible levels ever made, but in a deathmatch WAD playability is king, and Gothic DM 2 is unfortunately not as good in this aspect as the first. It's still worth downloading just to see it, but given a choice, I would rather not DM in it. Too many cramped spaces as heavy detailing took precedent over good flow.

A wicked series continues, this time sporting more detailed levels, although, also sporting a even less in the gameplay department. Still, a must have for everyone who calls themselves doomers.

I agree with deathz0r... This mapset is horrible. Oh yes, it's all well and good, having all the very intricate and detailed aesthetic design, blah blah blah... but the playability is shit! I can't DM with this, it's fucking awful! To all: If you're ever going to design over-detailed things like this, become a fucking architect! At least life can't slow down to a crawl!

The graphics are amazing. But personally, I think that there has to be a balance between looking good and playing well. If you have one without the other, the wad isn't really good. This doesn't play well at ALL. Therefore, I'll give it a 3/5.

Gothic Deathmatch I rocked! It had both beautiful architechture and decent gameplay. Gothic Deathmatch II sucked. They increased the beautiful architechture but decreased in gameplay. Making this abysmal to play with or above 4 players. This is basically cramped eye-candy. I recommend skipping this and continue playing Gothic Deathmatch I. --1/5 (Nestea)

I respect deathmatch levels which are playable. I don't respect people who thoughtlessly believe that this is good because the maps are "visually impressive. Oh, and I'm not the one here who doesn't want to disclose his (nick)name, so calling me a brainless retard is about as accurate as calling you a wimpy shithead. -deathz0r

More of the same from the Gothic Crew headed by Adelusion.. unfortunately, by this time the "magic touch" of the original simply wan't there. Surely, the maps are visually impressive indeed but the gameplay is sub-par. GothicDM was fun to play *and* beatuiful to look at. This is barely more than a showcase for special effects and beautiful textures. Still, some maps in here are more than well worth the download. --3/5

nothing like telefragging in the morning. ***** ~Csonicgo oh, deathz0r, I know what you mean. I only play the "open maps" on this set, so actually, I'll give it 3. gameplay matters on deathmatch.

Nice detail, but unfortunately lacks in the gameplay department. Some maps are way too cramped, aswell.
