Title: A lost soul
Filename: levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/alstsoul.zip
Size: 93.92 KB
Date: 12/17/06

Description: Somehow for some weird reason you find yourself in the main hall of what seems to be a demonic castle, or temple, that doesn't really matter. What matters is that you have to find a way out of there, fast, or you'll end up like that dead marine before you...

This is a somewhat small and pretty challenging map, created as a kind of a tribute to my favourite doom monster.

Jumping is NOT supposed to be used in this map.

Editor(s) used: Doombuilder, Wintex
Bugs: Maybe some misaligned small textures somewhere where they shouldn't be seen anyway.

This is a noob wad. You need IDDQD and IDFA cheat for this 1 level and you fight against many Arch-viles, not lost souls, 2/5.x

this runs properly only on f***ing zdoom due map errorsx

Too many archies at once, not enough ammo.x

This would've been a really nice archvile only map had it been properly tested to avoid broken monster teleporters and if it had a berserk pack to make tysoning fun instead of a tedious exercise. 2/5 - Belialx

Man, was that frustrating...x

The "favourite doom monster" in this case is the archvile (I couldn't find any lost souls). This level pits you against 55 of the damn things. The level is fiendishly hard but not impossibly so, although it is irritating at times depending on how the archviles come to rest before they fry you. You've got to know where you can sidestep into cover at any given moment. The stepping-stone outdoors maze was a let-down, though.x

A good map if you are into puzzles, but be warned, on UV you'll be literally have to tyson your way through the map if you don't organize area visiting/monster skipping precisely. Still, this map has this "beat me" appeal to it ;-) 5/5x
