Title: NiGHTMARE Speedmapping Compilation #4
Filename: levels/doom2/Ports/m-o/ntspd004.zip
Size: 73.01 KB
Date: 01/27/02
Author: Various
Description: This is a compilation of the WADs entered in NiGHTMARE's fourthspeedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom 2 level on a certain theme. This week's theme was to create a dark and spooky tech base, but there was a twist.

Each participant had just 25 minutes to work on a map, then they had to pass it on to someone else. Everyone therefore worked on a total of four maps.
Credits: Doomworld for the template for this .txt
Base: New levels from scratch
Build time: 100 minutes
Editor(s) used: Various
Bugs: The levels in this WAD were all built in 100 minutes, so they did not have a chance to be thoroughly tested. Some bugs undoubtedly exist.

Awful, even for speedmaps.x

This is awesome. A bunch of small E1-style battles, where the mix of authors keeps the layouts feeling fresh and to no particular theme. Gameplay takes precedence over detail, but this is speedmapping after all. I'd love a megawad of these maps, and I'll definitely go back to play this again. 4.5/5x

This is a mixed and generally not great bag. Map three is the worst, a giant dark maze that angered me. Map five has a bug near the start that stops you getting the blue key unless you kill the mancubus before it walks out of its room (the map is tiny otherwise). Map one has a bug that stops you getting the last four kills. Map two is the best; a small monster-packed level that plays well if you run through it, dodging most of the monsters. Map one feels like something from 1994.x
