Title: PARADOX
Filename: levels/doom2/p-r/paradox.zip
Size: 38.66 KB
Date: 04/23/96
Author: Darryl Ashton
Description: This is my first (decent and working) level so far.
Credits:
Base: New level from scratch. Good though, 'init?
Build time: Oh God. Er, About 10 days, 3 hours each, that equals about 30 hours. Maybe.
Editor(s) used: WadAuthor 32bit (the best editor, and it works brill in Win95! Register though) and DM, for testing the deathmatch-ablity.
Bugs: That drop after the little chasm has a naff wall texture, and maybe the lifts as well. A few doors are supposed to be secret, but I've left them out because I couldn't be bothered - er, because it's easier for you to get the best places to hide. No HOM, at least!!!

Eh, I commend the creators efforts, but this map is ruined by bad design choices and horrid use of monsters.x

^ The fact that it's long is part of what makes this map annoying though. It has all kinds of very obvious mistakes: inescapable slime/lava pits, areas you can easily get trapped in, terrible ammo distribution, texturing, monster placement, etc. Lucky to get a 1/5x

The textures is not cool placed. It starts with a cyberdemon, archviles and revenants to impossible. It's long so i give you 3/5 stars -Arthur.x

Terrible; basically a 1994 level but from 1996. It's worse than Echobelly, just a lot of low square rooms, with no thought or effort put into the textures or monster placement. It's the kind of level where there's a secret room just behind the start location - a cliche that goes back to the second user-made Doom level ever. You pick up a megasphere, and then you teleport right next to a second megasphere. Bottom cleavage.x

This map has almost everything a good map shouldn't have. Avoid this! 0.5/5 -Milianx
