Title: The Big Scary 'Doughnut' Lift
Filename: levels/doom/a-c/claus_02.zip
Size: 136.4 KB
Date: 09/25/94
Author: Claus Nielsen
Description: Well, it's actually not that hard to get to the exit, but can you do it with 3 x 100% - without cheating?!
Credits: Peter Bendixen and Peter Madsen; always more than willing to test my levels - (that was a joke)... Also many thanks to the makers of DEU and IDBSP, whom without this wouldn't exist. Oh, and of course Id Software - but that goes without saying.
Base: Totally new level.
Build time: Let me see; 6 days... and 6 nights!
Editor(s) used: DEU521GCC, WAD_DWD and IDBSP10 - Great tools!
Bugs: None that I'm aware of... Okay, okay - there are some nasty HOM effects at the end, (try standing on the bridge and look back - on the other hand, don't try it); but I can live with it, and if you can't, well, that's just to bad...

Solid map for the day, bit dated now. Small 3*x

2 votes, in total 0*??? Nofi, but you voters definitely should start trying to understand history. Because this is made in Sep 1994, those MS-DOS times with horribly slow 486/33 PCs with 320x200 graphics, but without stuff author could only dream about, like modern lightning-fast hardware, DB2 and 2015 style guides. Having said that, author did a very good job in creating an adventure which offered a lot 1994 players desperately wanted. Rated as 1994 map: solid 4*, because playing it gave a lot of fun.x

This is one of those levels that's based around a large central lift that has passageways branching off. The passageways lead to mazes. This author had a thing for mazes. Some of the corridors are curvy, but they are mazes nonetheless. Single-file corridor mazes pitting you against one monster at a time. Bare textures, no detail. You sir are no Jack Kennedy.x
