Filename: levels/doom2/g-i/gotheway.zip
Size: 347.85 KB
Date: 04/03/97
Author: Michael Krause
Description: 1 level WAD.

I use a P120 machine, so I imagine some areas may run slowly on a underpowered machine.
Credits: ID for DOOM2. Ben Morris for DCK. Special thanks to Massimo Ciano for the great sound conversion from Quake to DOOM 2. Please check out his great WAD "castleof.wad".
Base: New level from scratch.
Build time: 5 hours, ...? no that's a joke
Editor(s) used: DCK v2.2 by Ben Morris.
Bugs: Small texture misalignments here and there, but not really noticable unless you look for them.

Author's trademark epic architecture is starting to come into shape here. The plenty of room can make combat boring for some, with -fast it plays quite well. It's a well rounded map, and finally there are more weapons other than shotguns and chaingun. 4*x

Just a superb level. The level flows through, under, over and around itself, and not only is the architecture cool looking, but it fits together so well. It may not be his best level, but it blows 90% of the rest of the shite out there away.x

Michael Krause delivers his usual awesome architecture, but gameplay is a cakewalk on UV, with too much health and ammo and too few monsters. There is also an annoying section in the silver and blue area behind the loading dock, where three doorlike areas use the Shawn1 texture but only one of them is a door. Overall, not Michael's best work, but a relaxing intro to his unique and visually pleasing style. --Steve Duff 8/20/2003 x
