Title: Kalrac's House
Filename: levels/doom2/j-l/kalrac4.zip
Size: 35.54 KB
Date: 10/19/95
Author: Thomas Schrantz
Description: It is, as the title states, Kalrac's house. The item placement is crappy because I did not design it around that it was designed for the house part, and nothing else. The glass doors are neat (You'll know them when you see them.)
Credits: Erasure: For the music. ("I Love Saturday" from I Say, I Say, I Say. I don't remeber who made the Midi file of it though, but I'd like to thank them, too.) Shanna Roberts: Just cause I wanted to mention her. Whoever designed my house: For the layout idea.
Base: New level from scratch
Build time:
Editor(s) used: DMAPEDIT 4.0.11 á
Bugs: Outside "Leaks" into garage when door is opened. Texture on one wall extends below floor level. Design bugs: House too wide, wall should extend about three feet beyond where it does in one place, furniture doesn't look like the furniture in house does, paint and coloring does not match, there are not guns and demons around my house, no driveway or patio area...

its rather poor for late 95...you can run the exit door in some seconds without trouble...no secrets but a hidden bfg is there, some doors missing textures and many stuck monsters..can be played oncex

I give it 3, I mean despite it's time its not HORRIBLE. I mean its an interesting looking house but the errors and item placement and insane difficulty make it hard to play. IDDQD it and watch the nice scrolling TV lolx

"The item placement is crappy because I did not design it around that it was designed for the house part, and nothing else" says the readme, neatly encapsulating all that was wrong with the long-dead "level based on a person's house" genre. This has blatant, multiple Doom bathroom syndrome. You can just run to the exit, and the house doesn't even have multiple storeys. It is small and shabby. Like Ken Shabby from Monty Python.x
