Title: MyHouse2.wad
Filename: levels/doom2/deathmatch/m-o/myhouse2.zip
Size: 51.42 KB
Date: 03/30/95
Author: Noah Haskell
Description: This is the Doom ][ version of my Wad file, some of texture's are a little off so if you want the full effect you should play it on Doom I !!!

This is a completely blueprint accurate WAD of my house. I designed the level so my friends who don't have Doom can come over to play Doom via modem and would know the level without having to ask me which way to turn all the time. I also added a few underground tunnels and secret passageways that my house obviously doesn't have. There are hidden teleporters, detailed furniture, and a couple great hiding places. Even though the size of the file is large, the level itself is not that big. It is because of the furniture. Be sure to check out the fireplace and Bathroom's with moving toxic waste!!! This is my first attempt at creating a WAD so please be kind. Enjoy!!! (please tell my what you think!!!) noah@seas.ucla.edu
Credits: My girlfriend for helping to pick out the textures. and my friends for play testing the thing to death!
Base: New level from scratch, based on blueprints of my house.
Build time: At least twenty hours, (plus unmeasurable testing time!)
Editor(s) used: DoomCAD 4.3 and BSP 1.2
Bugs: NO known bugs, but when you go upstairs instead of being able to walk all the way up you are instantly teleported to the upstairs level. I had to do this because DOOM is not really 3-D. It still has to have a 2-D map so levels cannot be piled on top of each other. Just remember, there is more than one way into almost every room!

Very good for a house level.5/5x

This is a pleasant surprise. Most of the "my house" levels are terrible, no matter how detailed, because houses do not work in deathmatch; they are full of little rooms each with a single door. This level mostly avoids that problem, and it has a nice flow. You can barrel around. The detailing is simple, and the first floor is a bit redundant (it only has a handful of rooms), but this is one of the few house levels that would actually work in deathmatch.x

This level is stunning, and perhaps the most detailed 1994 wad out there. There's no new textures, but the author used the stock Doom textures very well in this level. The only problems is that you often get a visplane overflow when entering the livingroom from the garage, but this can be remedied by using a sourceport. Also, some areas can be a pretty tight squeeze to get through, but that would happen in a real house during a deathmatch situation anyway. :) 5 stars.x
