Apollyon has
a couple of major problems, which let this two level wad down a bit. Firstly,
let me say that I think level 1 of Apollyon is a very well designed level,
if somewhat hard on UV. There is a good texture mix, and the level seems
to flow very well. Level 2 also seems to be going the same way, until you
get close to the end. As far as I can see there are 2 major problems with
level 2. Problem numero uno is that there is a switch which you are supposed
to use, which opens a door to a second room. However, after entering the
room the door closes behind you and you are trapped inside with 4 mancubi
(is that
plural for mancubus ??). There is
no way, that I could find, to escape from this room. Problem no. 2 (and
most Doomers would regard this as a cardinal sin), is that there is no
exit from level 2!! This second, and very major problem (seeing as
the levels were designed for single player), begs the question, Why would
the author bother to release a wad that was not complete ?? However, if
you can ignore this MAJOR failing, and stick to level 1, then Apollyon
is quite reasonable, if somewhat short wad. |
