| When playing
these levels from start to finish, it never ceased to amaze me just how
much effort the author must have put into them. Level 1 is a small introductory
level and quiet reasonable in size, but level 2, and especially level 3,
seemed to just go on and on and on. I'm not suggesting that this is bad
or
anything, only that if you're going to attempt it on UV, you have to save quiet frequently, unless of course you're one of those Doom Gods out there who can kill entire levels of monsters on minimal ammo. Ammo and health pose a big problem in level 3, where you don't really get anything substantial without first having to fight for it. My favourite level in this episode would definitely be level 2. Particular areas in this level looked pretty cool, especially the part near the end. There were however I thought, two major let downs with this episode. The first being that there was no attempt made to correct a lighting effect error which appears in the first level... you can't miss it! It looks so odd when you look at it. The area around it is very bright while the sector itself is just pitch black. The second let down was more general and applied to all levels. I found that the placing of ammo and powerups seemed rather random and untidy. It looked as though the author really couldn't care less about the placing of objects. In some places I remember seeing objects sort of overlapping each other. Anyway these levels are respectable and still worthy to be downloaded. However I do hint that these levels are suited more for a Doom fanatic, and not just the normal Doom player. Highs : Certain areas look pretty cool.
Nice imported wall textures.
