| At first I
started to review each level separately, but seeing as this is a series
I will give my overall impressions for all the levels. Let me first
say that as I played these levels they just got better and better as I
went along! You can tell that Richard put alot of work into these
levels because he tried very hard to
pay attention to the detail throughout all of the levels...I got together with a friend of mine and played some co-op as well and we had a blast! At times we did notice some HOM's here and there from missing textures but it's not really obvious unless you really go out looking for them. A word of advice...you better be a good Doom player when playing these because you will have a tendency to get overwhelmed by monsters. Also, save often because you will die in these levels because of the numerous traps, to me this one of the downsides to these levels, just about everything is booby trapped. Instead of traps with loads of monsters I feel the strategical placement of monsters along with a trap here and there would have given the levels a better balance. The use and placement of textures got better as you progressed through the levels and the lighting effects was good giving the levels a nice atmosphere. If you want some good old blood, guts and beer Doom playing then download these levels and have at it...a must download! Highs: Great layouts, playability and
just good old Doom killing!
Final note: These levels would have gotten a higher rating if not for the the lows but still the levels are fantastic! Co-op play is great...try it! |
