| When
I first started this level I had a chuckle because there I saw Commander
Keen hanging by his scrawny little neck waiting to be fragged! It
brought back some good memories, but as I continued to play this level
I found nothing funny or very happy about this level. I'll give the
author some credit for not giving the level any glaring mistakes but everything
else such as playability and the such was not up to par as far as today's
standards go. I was able to also complete this level without killing
all the monsters, this was easy to do because each "area" had a specific
switch or linedef that would lower a sector with a transporter and off
you go...
Texture use was limited with everything pretty well "snapped" to the grid so there wasn't much of a problem with texture alignment, but the new sky texture was improperly used throughout the level because when you would try to go through a window you would bump into the sky...ouch! Wait till you get into the big circular room and see the sky texture...you'll feel like you're on acid! Monster placement was okay but very predictable and when I saw the five (5) arch-viles in one area I almost got sick, so like a good little Doom2 GrandMaster that I am I grabbed the key and got the hell out of there! Then the other big room with all the beasties was fairly easy, I just had to run in a circle around the room and they killed each other. Then I went back to the beginning and polished off Romero, now that was fun! Nothing personal Mr. Romero...heh heh! This level could have possibilities, but that's up to the author and not me. If you want something quick and easy then download this, but if you have better things to do with your time then look for a better level. Highs: Not much here,
texture alignment was okay and weapon placement was good.
