As this is a remake of a very old REoL Tough level, I found this map to be
slightly repetitive in its rooms (especially in the opening area) but very nice.
There's a lot of detail that's been crammed into this map, especially when
it comes to lighting, as the most observant of you will notice from the shots.
The building schemes are well done, being green STONE3, GSTONE1, METAL and
COMP textures, reminding me as such of the Episode 2 levels in Doom1.
(BTW, I've always had convictions that Doom1 was better than Doom2.)
Gameplay isn't that bad, you can run through the map quickly to the exit,
as I did in the one minute demo, without being hindered by monsters in the
halls as is often the case with levels I play. It's when you look for
fancy things such as really good weapons and 100% kills and secrets that
this level can take an awfully long time to finish. The ammo can, if you're
not careful, drop down to uncomfortably low levels, too, and that is the
only real low point on the gameplay front.

Does a lack of ammo count as a bug? I think not. So there aren't any bugs.
The aesthetic quality of this map is high; the textures are perfectly chosen
for such a level, and it reminds me of the original Doom1 strongly, only I
personally think it's far better than a number of those levels. One of
the things I really like about the map is the way that the light levels
fade nicely from the ceiling lamps into the surrounding light level.
There aren't really any odd textures anywhere, and one of the secrets
(the BFG secret) is a really good-looking gothic room that you've got
to look at and drool over. :-)

Thing placement isn't bad, quite nicely done.
verdict
Pros: Very nicely built and detailed map, a 'remix' of 1FIFFY1
Cons: Some uneven gameplay, lack of ammo can get bad
Highly recommended download. Worth a second look at the least,
and see how it compares with 1FIFFY1 (I've not played that one ;-)
