For some reson, I'd neglected this WAD slightly, so I'm getting myself
in gear properly now. Heaven only knows why I seemed to have a blind spot
for it, as it's a very well made map. It's constructed in the Doom E1 style
but with Hansen's unique twist on design thrown in. Having played his levels
in 2002: A Doom Odyssey (testing, you know), I was expecting certain things
from this map, and lo and behold, they were in there. The map is authentically
E1 in style; lots of biggish rooms and open areas, and plenty of dodge spots.

Hansen's great flow of gameplay is in there -- it is never necessary to backtrack.
Although it's better for you if you just follow your instincts and don't side-track
yourself. There are some parts that are dead ends early on, but are used later.
Ammo balance is better than in a few other maps of his (hr'm!Hell Unleashed :)
with enough ammo to kill the monsters. Yay. There are a few good secrets too, which
can be found if you look carefully for them.

No bugs. I didn't expect there to be any.

Aesthetics are good; very E1-like. E1-heads among you will love it. The only
point I have is that there's not much that's really modern in it (although this
was pointed out in the text file.) Also note the aligned textures... one aspect
that betters it over the original E1 (heh). The use of windows and doors is good,
which is something unusual for me to comment on (as regular readers will be aware).
It's just that they seem to be more obvious here. For some reason. Okay, enough
of my senseless blabling, on to the rest.

Thing placement, yep, that's good too.

Cons: No bells and whistles

This is a gem among the proliferation of E1-type maps. Well worth getting.
