PAGBSPD1 (DooM 1) ***
1 level.
This level was released to celebrate 5th DooM birthday :) It looks quite good... Mostly it's a bit on the easy side, but on the big outside area you can have hard time staying alive, because of all the shotgun guys. Quite good level, but a bit too small...

Pain Echoes (DooM 2) *****
1 level.
Made by Qingshuo Wang (aka piXel reX).
piXel reX has fast become one of my favorite level designers... He really has the touch for making very detailed and good looking levels! This time he does amazing job with showing how much detail can be stuffed to one DooM 2 level that does NOT need any source port to run! Lightning effects of the level vary from good to excellent... The screenshots show some extremely well done Quake style lightning... This level is not the hardest possible, but it does give some very nice challenge... Monsters seem to be popping from floors all the time :) This is a level that MUST be downloaded :)

Parallel Dimension (BooM + DooM 1) ****
9 level partial conversion.
Made by The Parallel Team.
First advice: Read the story! That way the beginning and the ending seem to be a lot cooler than if you just play the levels through! One thing that I noticed right in the beginning was that you can gib hanging bodies and those that are spilled around the level (but not the bodies of enemys that you killed), and it looks quite cool too... The levels are really well made and continue from where the last on ended and follow a certain storyline. They are also quite challenging and well detailed. This is kinda unique partial conversion, but it follows strictly the good old DooM 1 level style from beginning to the end.
The secret level (E2M9) is really well done modification of one of the original Episode 1 levels... It has been changed a lot and it has some areas that didn't exist in the original (some that were in original were also cutted away).
Screenshot mania! <- 11 screenshots!!!

Path Of The Fallen Angel (DooM 2) ****
This is one of the first WAD's that I have played. It's seven new levels, some new graphics, and good new sounds. Personally I think that it looks very good and has a lot of potential!

Pax (BooM + DooM 2) ****
1 level, music.
Made by Ty Halderman.
Wow, Ty himself decided to release a level of his own! Coolness :) Anyway, this level is weird, because it's small *or* medium size... You can play it through really fast if you choose the right way, but in my case when I had gotten to exit I had still lot's of places to check out... So I didn't exit yet and I searched through every place in the level to see everything... I recommend this if you get to exit soon... At the exit there was a computer map, so you can see the places that you haven't checked out yet. Most of the level seems to be tech style, but there's a storage room that I think was made of wood... The challenge side is quite good... Not too hard, but certainly wasn't too easy either. Good job Ty!

PC_WOLF, A Wolfenstein classic (DooM 2) **
6 levels, "music".
Made by Paul Corfiatis & Joe Corfiatis.
First... If you decide to play this WAD, do yourself a BIG favor and turn the music off! This WAD seems to rape the word "music" in the worst possible way! Second: The two last levels (made by Paul) of this WAD were playable and challenging and might get a three star review from me, but the four first levels (made by Joe) are mostly something very boring and way too easy to play. Sorry to say to all you Wolfenstein fans, but this one just wasnt too good...

PE4M1 (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
This is a must for all Episode 4 freaks, and a very good level to us others too :) Not only does it imitate episode 4 very well, but it also gives a good challenge... Not for DooM gods, but for regular players it should be enough :)

PE4M2 (Ultimate DooM) ****

Not much different in style than PE4M1, but of course the level structure is different. Just like PE4M1 this fits specially for Episode 4 fans, looks very good and give a nice challenge. This PExMy WAD's are the kind of WAD's that are hard to comment...

Duhh... Read the two review up from this review and you know what this is :) A good episode 4 style level, looks good, gives challenge, blah, blah, blah... Very good WAD :)

PE4M4 (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
Challenge! I started this level from scratch with pistol, and at least that way it's a difficult one! There's a bunch of barons and not enough ammo to kill them (or I might have missed some), so I had to leave 3 of them alive and run past them, which was actually pretty neat :) Episode 4 style, just like in every other PE4Mx level. Very good look and feel, but I found few texture misalignments.

PE4M5 (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
This is the second release of this WAD, and now much harder than the first was!
You don't need more than 10 minutes to get through this level, even if you have never seen it before. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good thing! It fits perfectly for a small gaming break in the middle of the work, or if you just don't have much time, and you wan't to have a quick game of DooM. In the first version there was no challenge for DooM Master skill players, but this second release offers a lot more challenge! The level looks quite simple when compared to todays standards, but it doesn't look bad. In fact it looks very good! You don't need thousand linedefs in one room to make a good level :). And of course Episode 4 freaks will just love it :)

PE4M6 (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
So far the best level of PE4Mx series! The level has the good old Tech-style that I like most, and it also has some very good challenge to deliver on UV skill! One thing that I have to like among the style and challenge is the monsters! It seems like they are all the time popping out from different secret doors that open when you go somewhere, and when you come back there's a bunch of baddies just waiting for you!

PE4M7 (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
Back to episode 4 style, and the author realy masters that style! To the point where you get the plasma gun the level is mostly between hard and even harder, but unfortunately the plasma rifle eases your life and you get a plenty of ammo for that too, and the final showdown gets too easy... Maybe with rocket launcher it could been harder... But, wow is this level beaty or what? Looks like full Id-quality level for me! Could have well been in episode 4!

PE4M8 (Ultimate DooM) ***
1 level.
This level looks really cool, but unfortunately is a bit on the easy side... Or it depends... It's a small level, and there's not much to say about it... Very small, and fits propably much better for deathmatching than for single player mastermind bashing. Can't help it, but the level doesn't have that hard feeling that the last level of the episode should have!

PE4M9 (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
Made by Paul Corfiatis.
Hehe... In the text file it says that the level is small just to annoy Sir Robin :) Well, I can say that it's not nearly small enough to annoy me... In fact I can even like some very small levels :) In order to be annoying the level must also feel small... It must give me a feel that it ends just when I'm starting to get hot, and this level isn't that kind of level. This level is one of those rare levels that include a simple violentic DooMish feel that is kinda unexplainable. This level also looks very good... It has the basic DooM look, but made better than in most original DooM levels. You have to get it!

Perchance To Dream (DooM 2) ***
1 level, graphics, music.
Made by Joe "Recidivus" Becht.
Well... This is a good attempt to produce Episode 1 style level, but IMO it's pretty far from Episode 1 style... But it's space base style anyway, and I like it... Overally it looks good, although nothing special... It give enough challenge even, though a bit more would be nice too... What else to say... I dunno... There are some places the remind me a lot of Episode 1, so I guess the attempt hasn't failed totally :)

Death Tormantion, Special edition level (Ultimate DooM) ****
1 level.
Made by Paul Corfiatis.
NOTE! A modern source port (like BooM) is recommended for playing this level.
Ahh... Inspired by Richard Wiles "Spooky0x" levels Paul has decided to pull out one more level for his PE4 series! And in fact this is a very good level! As he explains in the text file, he this time has put in more detail (not that his previous levels were under detailed or anything) and more challenge, and may I say that they both show! Don't stop to admire views before you have killed every living soul on the area or you end up being surprised by some nasty hell spawns, and don't waste your ammo or you will end up bashing cacodemons and barons with your fists... Happened to me :) And for DooM's sake, get this level now! :)

Phobos (DooM 1) ****
8 levels.
Excellent pack of levels made with the style of first episode of DooM 1, "Knee Deep in the Dead", which is my favourite DooM episode! This level set mostly follows the style very well, but there are some places that look totally different than "Knee Deep in the Dead". Also I found one quite visible texture misalignment... There might be more, but I didn't notice any...

Phobos (DooM 2) *****
4 levels, graphics, music.
INCREDIBLE! These levels are totally unbelieavable! Not only they are full of amazing special effect use, but they also have great architecture and playability. Challenge is also the word! These levels give good challenge on UV. Sometimes I had hard time finding the right way to go, but finally I got through all these four levels! If you are not sure should you download this or not, check the screenshots!

PHOBOS: ANOMALY REBORN levels 1-4 (DooM 1 + MBF) *****
4 levels, new graphics.
Made by Christopher Lutz (homepage).
Astonishing! It pretty much seems that all these "Phobos levels" seem to turn out really good :) This one is by no means an exception! These four levels are full of challenge, old fashioned key-hunting and incredible detailing/decorations! Plus it's all done in base-style, which just happens to be my favorite style. The adventure starts where the storyline ends, which is pretty much crashing into an abandoned basement. From there you have no time for sight-seeing although there is of course smooth lightning and neat detailing but also quite and amount of 3d-floors and some trickery that you wont expect seeing in DooM normally. The last level took the idea that I had since boom with scrolling floor effects and such came out: Train. The level is a moving train and you will die if you fall off. Neat and previously very much unseen in DooM :) Anyway, I took screenshots after screenshots of this beautyful piece of art and picked 10 best of them and if your not convinced that you should download this level, check them out. If you dont have MBF and your not in mood for downloading it, you can play the 3 first levels in any boom compatible source ports but the last level uses a feature that will crash other source ports.
Also note... Sometimes this WAD ran really slow on my P200MMX/32Mb... It has some detailing that can really slow a machine down...

Phobos - Relive The Nightmare (DooM 2) *****
9 levels, graphics, sounds, music.
Wowtsibum! Nine levels in style of DooM 1 episode 1! In fact the DooM 1 episode style and DooM 2 style seems to be nicely blended together... DooM 2 monsters give a really nice add... The story is exactly the same as in DooM 1, only the levels are different... I would say that this is propably the best episode 1 style pack that I have played so far... And the levels continue exactly from where the last level ended... In the end you have a end fight, but I felt that it was too easy with my fully loaded Plasma Rifle...

Polution (DooM 2) ****
9 levels, graphics. Partial Conversion.
Made by The DOOM Authors Guild.
Quite well done littel partial conversion... Introduces couple of new enemys and a new weapon... One of the new enemys (moving barrels that explode on contact) sounds really dum, but in the game it actually was quite neat... New explosion effects are used here and there around the levels in cool ways... Walls explode and areas behind them are revealed... The levels vary from okay to quite good, but unfortunately they are not very hard on challenge.

Project-X (DooM 2) ***

Although these levels are mostly small, easy for experienced player, and contains a lot of mis-alignments on the walls, this pack is still somehow a good pack of levels. It's not challenging, and not very detailed... It's something that I can't explain... Snack playing?
