COOP or DM/CTF?

I hope Doom 3 will have as decent a COOP mode as Quake 2 had.

Hopefully, ID won't follow the latest trend of competitive-oriented online gaming, like Unreal Tournament, MechWarrior 3 and their own Quake 3, to name a few. I mean c'mon, Q3 and UT didn't even have single player MISSION modes (not that tier tournament BS).

On another note, Westwood didn't even make a COOP mode for Nox. I think it would've been great going through the Nox quest with some friends, having each of the 3 classes complementing each other.

Anyway, what do you guys think? In terms of online gaming, do you prefer COOP or DM/CTF? Personally, after Q2 DM/CTF and all of its mods, I'm ready for something new/different. I'd appreciate some feedback, because I know I'm not alone on this.

BTW, Milk Industries announced that they're working on a Q3 single player mission mod...but is it too little too late?

In COOP I think it would be great to choose between different characters and maybe even a slightly different storyline then in singleplayer... I think both the original DooM COOP and the Quake II COOP were great. They should reaaly continue doing so.

In DM/CTF I hope they keep the standards of their previous works. I think all their DM/CTF works are great. And it would be great if they made a new sort of multiplayer mode...

I agree. Coop should make a comeback. It'll never replace DM or CTF but it's nice to have that option.

Definitly have to have the coop.

My buddy and I have been searcing for a good COOP game for a while now, next one we find that looks decent will be bought. I never bought Q3, I've already go UT which is pretty much the same thing....shoot anything that moves. UT assult levels against the bots are the closest thing we've found to COOP in a while. I think Doom - Quake2 COOP modes were great, we had a blast. Hopefully someone will revive coop for us!

This brings us to the question of whether or not Doom3 will have modem support. I have never heard of co-op games being done over the internet, and not everyone can bring their computer to their buddy's house to play a LAN game.
