Well if I get to making something with it, I'll post it on the forum because, to be honest, I'm not sure if I'll have something with this pack by time the compilation starts.

Hi guys, apologies for the brief hiatus. I come bearing some new updates, as well as more deadline news.

First of all, an Alpha update. Included is dt_'s map, along with updates to other maps that have been linked in recent posts.

Secondly, an updated resource pack. Nothing has been changed (so nobody will be required to adjust textures in their maps), however I noticed some minor omissions in the resource pack that I've updated. Stuff like lights that have a red and yellow variant, but no blue variant. I will continue to poke through the resources in the future, but I doubt I'll need to make any more updates barring something major popping up.

Thirdly, I streamed the current alpha two nights previously! (Part 1 - Part 2) I provided some feedback to each map, breaking down what I liked and did not like as each thing popped up. CWolf - I skipped your map as I'm already aware that you're replacing it with something else and, really, what's the point in me providing feedback for a map when it's gonna be replaced anyway? Also, I was pretty tired at that point, and still a touch woozy from a needle-filled dentist appointment I'd had earlier in the day.

Lastly, and this is most important: deadlines.

The next deadline will be October 1st. I know that several people were looking to submit something for the June deadline yet didn't quite have enough time, so hopefully this should give you all more than enough time to polish off what you made and get it into the second alpha.

Not only that, but anybody who has a claimed mapslot who has not posted any updates by this time will have their spot revoked so that we can begin freeing up map spaces. Several people who signed up to the project back in January have barely - if at all - posted since than, and I'm afraid that a maplist with 100% slots claimed may deter other new mappers from asking to contribute, which is the opposite of what I want. If your name is down in the OP and you do not provide me with a status update by the end of September I will have to remove you from the claimed slots. That does not mean those people will not be able to contribute a map to the project, but they will lose their priority position and the project will become more first-come-first-served.


tl;dr:
OCTOBER 1ST DEADLINE FOR 2ND ALPHA. IF YOU HAVE A CLAIMED SLOT AND YOU DO NOT POST A STATUS UPDATE BY OCTOBER SOMEBODY ELSE WILL CLAIM YOUR PLACE IN THE PROJECT.

I really will have to drop out of this, haven't touched the map since I drew maybe a couple of lines like last month. Extra house locks, check. Cricket bat, check ;)

I don't think my map would be ready for the second deadline. Will it be fine if I post what I will have even if still in wip state?

Yes, as long as you can show me that you're making some progress. This is to weed out anybody who has vanished from the forums.

Eris: this also goes for you - you've at least posted some kind of update and a screenshot or two. I won't hold you to making a map, but the slot will always be open for you.

A lot of my creative juices aren't firing very well. Pretty safe to give my spot up to someone on the backup list if I don't have something together by the deadline.

Chances are I'll drop out as well. Can't guarantee I'll get anything more done for my map due to personal projects again, but I'll see if I can.

I'm not sure I understood correctly 100% of your verbal explanations, if you have time could you make a small summary of the suggested changes?

Guess it wouldn't because I'm stopping to work on any kind of Doom-related stuff (exept MIDI that I promised to Jimmy). I'm going into army in September and, so, I'll be unable to do anything for whole year. Yeah shame, I know... Let Agul Tan be in roster then.

good map01, if a little lengthy. liked the MIDI. the last HK is kind of superfluous - either more of them, or i would replace with another enemy or just more trash

really enjoyed this - like a little puzzle box. i actually cant remember the last map i have played that was this efficient with the size and the enemy count. brilliant stuff, i could play a whole wad like this!

didnt enjoy this; quite a few suck-it-and-see fights (riding lifts into things, having to blind fire at things below me etc.)
never really knew what i was trying to do in the map (check the last few minutes where i flip a switch, then remember the exit gates which are now open) - too much backtracking for blind switches.

I'm pulling out of making a map for NOVA 3, and attempting to become a mapper in general.

It's taken me 10 mapping streams, but I'm just not enjoying the mapping process. I find it stressful and difficult to stick to an idea, and while I have ideas I'm not very good at making them happen in GZDoom Builder.

So thanks to everyone who's helped me out over the last few months, but I'm going to stick to just playing the wads and being a half-decent playtester. If anything my trials and tribulations at attempting to map have taught me some respect for mappers in general, and all the hard work they put in to try and make something good for us to play.

Thanks for the opportunity, and my apologies to anyone I've disappointed with this decision.

Hi, I had made some progress after I showed the pics (progression of the map is about 45-50%), but that was a while ago and I didn't touch the map for 2 months. I haven't much free time now, so if I don't show any progress of my map before the deadline you can consider me out.

My apologies to all involved, but I'm going to have to bow out of this as well. The last few months have grown increasingly busy and I haven't had the time or motivation to work on a map for this. Sorry for the short notice and for letting folks down.

Is it acceptable to make 2 maps for a NOVA project? I'm feeling an earthy temple map brewing...

I figure might be cool if any double entries that may or may not happen were collabs either with existing mappers or including a past NOVA mapper? Could encourage some interesting new ideas (and raise the quality of the mapset?).

Latest from me... nearly, nearly there after so much god damn effort. Hope it is worth it. I put everything i have into this map.
