Pepsi or Coke?

Recommended Posts

As you may know, obviously knowing me, personally, i bought both pepsi and coca-cola at my local rite-aid today.

And I have a questionaire for you.

Do you prefer pepsi or coke? (or, any other sodas?)

things to remember:

  • A 12 ounce can of Pepsi contains one thing Coke does not- citric acid.
  • Pepsi has two more grams of sugar than Coke.
Spoiler

i have no fucking clue if these claims are true or not

Pepsi outsells Coke here 3 to 1, but I like both. Ironically I prefer Cherry Coke to Cherry Pepsi.

That said, if you want some real good Pepsi, go find the one that's made with real sugar. That stuff is the absolute bomb. Nice, sharp bite, and clean finish unlike the HFCS stuff.

If you remember Pepsi Throwback from a handful of years ago, it's the exact same stuff.

Spill a bottle on each on a hard floor of some sort (preferably of the wipe-clean variety). When they have both dried out, you will see all the shit that is in both of them, and you will never want anything to do with either of them ever again.

I did this accidentally many years ago, and it worked.

Pepsi makes me very ill feeling, so thats out. But Pepsi Blue, when it existed, was the best cola to ever exist. Coke is meh, but its base variant beats Pepsi's base variant any day.

My favourite type of coke was the lemon diet coke, although it made me pee a lot. Raspberry coke was also neat, as was orange vanilla coke.

To prevent boredom during quarantine I've kept myself busy by doing various food experiments, one of them being doing direct taste test experiments of sodas.

Coke products vs Pepsi Products:

Pepsi Cola vs Coca-Cola - Winner Pepsi

Wild Cherry Pepsi Vs Cherry Coke - Winner Cherry Coke

MUG vs Barq's - Winner Barq's

Sierra Mist vs Sprite - Winner Sierra Mist

Mtn Dew vs Mellow Yellow - Winner Mellow Yellow

Coke, Pepsi for a change of pace but mostly Coke, Pepsi tastes somewhat sweeter than Coke for me.

Well, I went ahead and just did the full tier list.

Keep in mind that out of all of these rows the only ones I actively dislike are in the very bottom tier.

This is a silly measure. A lot of perfectly healthy foods will look like vomit if you spill them haphazardly on the floor. Any sugary drink on the floor is going to leave a horrible sticky mess, not just Coke/Pepsi.

Been drinking Coke on and off for many years. I'll take breaks from it for a year or two, but I always come back to it again and again. I'll be drinking it until the day I die and defending its honour in The Great Cola Wars. Pepsi tastes like generic supermarket cola sieved through a sweaty gym sock!

Bepis. Or bepsi.

I've cut all soda out my diet really. Occasionally I'll have a mountain dew or mellow yellow, but the amount of sugar in them is insane. But when I did drink soda and had to choose, it was Coke. Pepsi just seemed like it had too much sugar, and it was too thick. It almost felt like pouring syrup down my throat.

Well, i really do not care.
Both are bad and tasty, wish they could at least bring out one without the Stuff to color it black.

I really like to put Lemon in there, makes it so much more enjoyable.

Real Sugar? Lol?! Whats wrong with them, one of mankinds biggest burdens.

But well, it is like they write cane sugar, rock candy, glucose, dextrose et cetera.
It really doesn't matter, it is sugar.

I used to drink Coke when I was younger. Never again. Awful stuff. Pepsi no better.

I like both but prefer coke. I don't drink much of it as I cut way back on that stuff. I won't even touch it if it's diet because I can't stand the taste of aspertame or sucralose.

What if you don't drink either of them?

I used to drink Coke when I was a kid, until the 'tooth in a glass of cola' school experiment. I also knew a girl who was addicted to it, she lost all her teeth before she was 21. It was so bad that you could almost see her teeth slowly dissolving away week-by-week.

After that I never touched any kind of cola ever again. I occasionally drink other soft drinks (soda, pop whatever you want to call it). I mostly subsist on coffee though, so I don't exactly gain anything by avoiding soft drinks.

Sarsaparilla (Dr.Pepper) is the only exception to this rule. To give an example of how bad it is: If I'm a guest in your home and I sense a bottle of that on the premises, then I will find a way to take it from you. Bribary, theft, stalking, false promises...whatever it takes.

This is why moderation is key. Mind you, no matter what we eat or drink, teeth are finite. You'll lose 'em one way or another heh. It does help to not go overboard and take care of 'em as best you can though.

True enough moderation is key, but as a kid seeing that tooth in a glass of cola slowly disintegrate really hit home. Then again I'm a live and let die kind of man, if you enjoy it then why stop? You only live once after all.

"Even though I am big like a can of Pepsi" - Borat

None of this two. They are good to clean up the bathroom, as some folks saying. But not to drink in large quantities.

Back in the day was stick to Sprite, 7Up and Fanta. Tried Dr. Pepper a little. But today don't like them at all, same as others - too many sugar, so-so composition, corn syrup instead of normal ingredients.

So. I pick Bundaberg Peach, made in Australia. Usually delivered by 12 bottles of 0,375. Good one.

Water, cane sugar, concentrated peach juice (5%), peach base. Some other flavors can contain barm and natural perfume. They also have apple, red orange, red berries, lime, mango and some others. None of the soda drinks mentioned here, including those in the picture, are close to such in case of a composition.

If it's not available then sometimes drinks from UK with an wolf image on the bottle. Forgot the name of it. Composition also not close to Pepsi/Coke.

BTW. In Soviet Union there were third answer - Pepsi-Cola.

2006 video

Yikes, those videos really age badly, worse than VHS tapes. At least VHS was a constant 50 frames fields per second (OK, 60 Hz for those living in the Yoooo Esss of Ey). The constant editing/recoding (who knows how that video started life, how it was captured, what it was converted to etc. before finally reaching Youtube) is just as bad as analog copies /tangent

Coke or Pepsi? Hmm... whatever my current discount store's brand is, I guess. Cola Drops, Green Cola, Highway (LIDL brand) etc.

I was born in Brazil, where we had actual Coke and Pepsi. Both tasted great, and wildly different. Pepsi had a lime version which tasted like cola with a hint of lime and it was much better than Coke. I think it was called Pepsi Twist? The bottle had a little lime dude as a mascot.

That being said, American soda is trash. Pepsi and Coke here have to abide by the FDA, who makes them use less Caramel-7, which is what gives the cola I knew from Brazil the sweet taste I've come to miss. What's strange to me is somehow American Coke and Pepsi have more sugar and are less sweet than their Brazilian cousins.

Fun little anecdote, last meal I had in Brazil was at the McDonald's airport. My mom got me a Cheddar McMelt, another amazing meal not found in the states(double cheese burger with the darker bun, and extra cheese), and I had my last Brazilian coke. Wish I had savored it more and not hurled in the Federal Police's trash bin at the airport out of 9 year old nervousness. Soon as I stepped into the US, first meal we had was also McDonald's, and not only was I terribly upset they didn't have the Cheddar McMelt, or the cheesy bacon fries(that Wendy's now has), when I took my first sip of American coke I asked my mom if they watered it down in fast food places here. Which, they do, but regular American coke to me tastes watered down straight from the can.

Short Answer: Pepsi, if we're talking regular. Coke, if I'm allowed to run to Chipotle and get the Mexican kind. The Mexicans know what the fuck is up and use cane sugar, I believe, in their cola.
