Best launcher for PrBoom+ and it’s variants.

Hi all,

I’ve been using batch files to run specific wads / dehacked patches / other bits. I’m struggling to get the hang of command lines and sometimes certain choices don’t go through:

e.g. the complevel from the .bat below doesn’t work and the final boss in map 30 is broken.
 

prboom-plus.exe -file D2SPFX19.WAD Eviternity.wad -deh D2DEHFIX.DEH -complevel 11

I wondered if there’s an easier way?

I've been using this one and it works incredibly well. Just drop it into the PrBoom+ folder and open the executable or make a shortcut.

Thanks very much! I’ll check it out. Can you select complevel before you load a wad or do I have to change settings in the options menu?

ZDL. Despite the name, it's not limited to running wads made for the ZDoom port family - you can add any and all source ports you have into it and it'll work.

I second the ZDL recommendation, that's what I use. Flags that don't have dedicated GUI elements, such as -complevel, can be specified in the "Extra command line arguments" box.

Regarding the problem you have with Eviternity, are you sure it's not caused by D2DEHFIX.DEH conflicting with Eviternity's DeHackEd changes?

I third the ZDL recommendation. Its just so versatile. Great little program.

I use Doom Launcher and love it. It's more complex than ZDL, but it suits my needs perfectly.

Yeah, there's options to pick an IWAD, complevel, and what map you start on along with the difficulty setting. It's also got a very easy to use demo recording/playing tool.

thx for that link - while i've been using zdl for ages, i had not noticed that there's lcferrum's updated version of qbasicer's zdl.

Easy to use, works well, hasn't let me down yet. I like it.

You do know that there is also a built in launcher in prboom+ you can go find it in the options in general it labeled as in-game launcher switch it to always. 

I use zdl/doom launcher btw
