Recommended Posts

My two kids each got a sweet computer set-up and an iphone a piece :)

I got $50 from my parents and nothing else, but I love this holiday still for sharing with others.

I programmed this up in under 4 minutes. I'm quite proud of my skills, actually.

And I didn't use any outside references, it was all just my logicks and skills

Merry Christmas fellow Doomers.

I hope your Christmas wrapping is huge, that means you'll have huge gifts!

So rip and tear, until it is done.

Happy holiday (happy holiday)
Happy holiday (happy holiday)
While the merry bells keep ringing
Happy holiday to you

We had a Christmas breakfast party with my son and his wife's family this morning. Exchanged "Secret Santa" presents. I got a set of four 8oz. crystal "lowball" cocktail glasses and a bottle of goji berry liqueur (can't recommend - even my son's wife said it tastes like Robitussin). I gave a set of heavy-duty plastic storage shelves to my son's father-in-law. He was happy with what he got, as was I despite the Robitussin.

Wtf, I just made a same topic two days ago.

Edit: I mean I´m not scorned or anything, just kinda sad (almost) no one reacted to it.

Best gift I got this year, reuniting with my old girlfriend after 10 years and sorting things out and hopefully trying again now that we are both more mature and have been through alot on our own. Just when I was hitting rock bottom in life, she shows up out of no where a few days ago and hits me up now we are hanging out again and hitting if off! She was always there for me when i was a teenager, now im adult and it took me so long to see that what i was looking for has been there with me from the start just took me forever to see it. Christmas miracles do happen. Happy holidays everyone!

I got my wife a telescope.

My wife got me... a telescope.

Hmm. One time we gave each other the identical card. At least the telescopes are different models (one small and practical; the other has a carrying bag that's like a huge suitcase).

We were recently in the Atacama Desert, and realized that my 125x zoom camera just wasn't going to cut it for astronomy (despite doing a nice job on the moon):

Jupiter and the four Galilean moons (Io and Europa are close together). But yeah.

I love it that people still buy DVDs and Blu-Rays. I stopped hoarding them something like 10 years ago (and instead started hoarding books). My mother keeps insisting on buying gifts for even for her 40yo son, so I asked her to buy me the newest James Bond on blu-ray so as to keep my collection complete. Surprisingly enough, she lives in one of the bigger mid-tier cities in Finland, and she was unable to find it anywhere. I live in the capital of Finland, and I struggle to find mainstream stuff anymore in the markets where there used to be long shelves filled with movies, TV-series and PC/PS/Xbox/Nintendo games. Now there is next to nothing. Art House movies are easier to come by in bookstores (!) and dedicated shops - which is a small comfort.

I reside in a smaller city in Australia, and movies are still widely available in stores. Even ancient DVD releases like Godzilla (1998), Twister, and Starship Troopers are still available new via retail (although perhaps those DVDs never went out of print).
