BassSlapper89 Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) I enjoy listening to your podcasts. I normally don't listen them cause the majority of podcasts I come across are based off subjects I personally don't like. Like Politics, sports, etc. Doom, music, movies and video games are my go to. So, what you're doing basically grabbed my attention. 😁 Keep up the great work! Maybe one day we'll have a chat. Have an amazing 2023! 2 Share this post Link to post
innerethos Posted February 5, 2023 Nice! Good voice. Good topic. Good quality and good music. You got me! I am impressed. 0 Share this post Link to post

Kyka Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) Great podcast. Thanks Nirvana and Looper. Just as a minor clarification. the Red Key Door on map 27, the 'far' side of the door is a DR Open Door (Also monsters,) and the linedef does face away from Doomguy and the archvile. So apparently monsters can activate doors with the linedef facing away from them. That is something that Decino needs to do a video on! [Edit] I also didn't know that the trick of pressing switches from far away was called a 'Zero Press' until now. Edited February 13, 2023 by Kyka 1 Share this post Link to post

We discuss Mtrop's early TNT-influenced years, his move from big maps to small maps and back to big maps again, and the creation of his various Doom utilities. innerethos Posted February 19, 2023 YES! I always need more of this in my life. Listened to all 34 episodes in just about two weeks. Has been crucial to me getting a better understanding of "high-quality" DOOM content. Informative, entertaining, and chill as can be. Thanks for the easy times! Keep 'em coming! 1 Share this post Link to post

Nirvana Posted February 27, 2023 Today on the podcast I am talking to Alfonzo. Mapper for a wide variety of community projects such as Doom the Way Id Did 1 & 2, Abyssal Speedmapping Sessions, and more, provider of midis to Mutiny and the Alfonzone and the host of Doom Radio, the Doom podcast that started it all. We discuss Alfonzo's early wad reviewing days, single player and multiplayer mapping, his process for midi making, and of course, Doom Radio. Alfonzo Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) I felt very humbled to be offered a spot on your show, Nirvana, thanks! It's so great to know that there's talent out there in podcast land keeping people connected in this way and stimulating discussion. It really is invaluable. Some corrections to a few things I mentioned or failed to mention: I did provide MIDIs to Mutiny in the sense that I selected them for the soundtrack, but I didn't compose anything or even include any of my own stuff. I wasn't sure if there was any confusion here but just in case... @sgtcrispy lorded over the first iteration of Doom Radio. You can find those casts in the ancient history section of the (still maintained!) Doom Radio site: http://doomradio.org/series/old-doom-radio/. I'm a bit embarrassed that I forgot this essential piece of history at the time... but then I've forgotten a lot of things. You'll have to forgive me :) essel was the one who jokingly suggested Tango TV as a name for the show. I think she was at the very least surprised that it was actually selected and used. Gubble is the name of the game that Jimmy in particuar took inspiration from for Square's music. Keep on doing your thing! This is great. EDIT: Mandatory Xaser... Capellan Posted February 27, 2023 This Nirvana guy is a handsome fellow. Great choice of guest, too. 7 Share this post Link to post
SleepyVelvet Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) Good interview. I agree with SUPPORT3. SUPPORT3; 24 map units; click the 'Clear Alignment' button, is one of the best go-to techniques for patching up seams everywhere on the fly. Learning that helped me go from a messy and inefficient speedmapper to a much more clean one imo. Also, one thing that might not've been mentioned is that Alfonzo founded the Doomworld Ironman League, now hosted by @NaZa, which kept people (like me) on the hook and kept me checking in on Doom at least once a month, and it might even be the main reason a couple of us are even still around in the first place. Thnx Alfonzo. 7 Share this post Link to post
