INfront95 Posted February 1, 2023 Quake 4 is the 2nd best game. That..... i said it..... it was fun to play as a kid, it wasn't tech demo, it wasn't multiplayer exclusive like 3 and ET, It..... was..... FUN 0 Share this post Link to post
TriggerCoder Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) I love Quake3 Arena, I love it so much, that I'm rewriting it for the Unity Engine: As I feel so disappointed with Quake Champions, as they took years just to just to bring "The Longest Yard", that felt like they wasted all the potential without a proper mapping tool. 2 Share this post Link to post
joepallai Posted July 10, 2023 Never finished Quake (hated the sound in that game and the 3d models) but enjoyed Q2 and Q3 thoroughly. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kwisior Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) I quit playing the Ground Zero expansion on the second level after beating the base game because Quake II is BORING. While the maps are detailed, the music and audio were done well, the weapons are good and I love the visual design of the Strogg, the game suffers from an overabundance of resources. I didn't feel even remotely challenged most of the time while playing on the hard difficulty. While the enemies have the potential to be difficult, they are just too easy to deal with when you always have full railgun ammo (not to mention the repetetiveness of the flying types). I would do some type of pistol start challenge for a replay to make it less monotonous, but I don't know if it was intended. Maybe I'll finish the expansions, but the above problems are holding me back. Edited July 10, 2023 by Kwisior 0 Share this post Link to post

Quake 2 being too easy is definitely an issue, but its surprising that you gave up on Ground Zero, since that's the expansion that actually makes Quake 2 somewhat challenging. AI is slightly improved, ammo availability is tighter, more dangerous new enemies and, most importantly, no energy armor (seriously, the energy armor is too good). Though Ground Zero has its own issues. I recall having problem with progression being confusing when I played it years ago. 13 hours ago, Kwisior said: I would do some type of pistol start challenge for a replay to make it less monotonous, but I don't know if it was intended. Quake 2 isn't really designed with pistol start in mind. But I guess all of the maps are still probably beatable due to infinite ammo blaster, although it might make the game more grind. 2 Share this post Link to post
Dreamskull Posted July 13, 2023 The most egregious Quake sin that Im guilty of is hating on railgun gameplay. Ive always found it obnoxious. 0 Share this post Link to post
