Hey Spriters! I'm working on finalizing this Hell Knight sprite and I need ideas for a unique death animation. Feel free to spitball anything at me. I was thinking of maybe having the HK sort of 'ouroboroused' into his own stomach hole like some weird vacuum - but I'd like for there to be some remains leftover once he passes. (maybe once he's sucked in he's crushed and some guts remain?)

I'll sketch some ideas eventually but some brainstorming help would assist me in pushing this the extra mile. The project is The Chilling Winds of Dis - this sprite is a local of an abstract area of hell that is really cold, really dark, and is rotting and dying and edgy and shit. I'd like his death to resemble that in some way.

 

Also, @Desfar you mentioned something about using some projectiles I had posted. I don't know which specific projectiles you refer to, and I don't remember posting any resources beyond just previews and images: would you want me to send you a .zip or .wad of said projectiles for your Lich sprite?

 

An idea! A few bullet holes appear to make it look as if his "structural integrity" has been compromised and the effects are seen immediately after: All his innards and muscle tissue and basically anything underneath his skin gets sucked out through the hole, kinda like reverse vaccuum like @ShallowB is unto, that leaves his skinsuit like a hollow cape by the end of it floating down unto the giant pile of slowly freezing gore that fell out of him.

 

Disgusting but... I dunno. Seemed to fit with the theme, in my psycho noggin :>

And for the knight, Im afraid to think of how many frames it might take, but I cannot help but think of this scene.

I would do it through the surrounding skin bursting, the blood swirling into the pinprick of the knights core. then have some gore making up the limbs or head making up the final gore pile. whatever is furthest from the hole when it finally dies out.

I was imagining the same scene before the reveal. Couldn't think of how to animate it though.

This is the best I can imagine. ( on a 10 minute quick edit)
Though this is just a rough mockup, I'm sure the PineGuy will make something much better, and i dont wanna step on any toes.
But this till completion with all the gibs pouring inwards.

Here's what I have made insofar inspired by what you've done. Will need to doo some touchups though. Having the gore frames at the end look natural will be challenging. I may make the fourth frame have some 'impact' as if the swirl has hit the ground

Nice! Maybe one of the bits could break off early on, and slide far across from left to right as the momentum of rotation tosses it away?

I think you should make a variant where the pixels just vanish. That's what I was expecting from the swirl. Still looks good, though.

Has anybody ever ripped the Cowboy sprites from A Fistful of Doom enemies? I think they are really cool. There should be more cowboy and lone rider themed wads.
