DreadWanderer Posted January 1 (edited) Viridian and purple romance? Hell yes! Edit: Back with first time impressions after spending more time with it than I thought I would (about 25 mins). The good: - the fights are very engaging and cool, with some really interesting challenges. The final fight is really epic and quite tricky, I was caught very off guard; - the color combinations and the vibes are excellent; - I love the MIDI; - the epilogue is wholesome in a very melancholic way; The bad: - the secrets are beyond obscure. I could find none in my blind run, had to open UDB to see what's going on. Managed to trigger 2 of the 3 but I still have no idea how to reach the berserk and the non-secret supercharges even after opening the editor (arch-vile jump required for the supercharges?); - the sprites are a bit rough and could use some shading work. I'm annoyed by the new wavy cursor replacing the traditional blinking skull because it covers too much of the menu font. There's an associated problem when you try to pick the difficulty - only "true love" can be read, the rest are just blanks; - Minor point: the wavy platforms are a bit frustrating to navigate and you can easily fall off; All in all, good and enjoyable! No dealbreakers here, and I'd really like to record a UV max run of your map. Here, in case you enjoy seeing someone face-plant against the final fight for ten minutes (-dsdademo in DSDA-Doom 0.27.2). noisy_urlove_fda.zip Good level, modest length, very pretty. May be a deep allegory for relationship related issues... or could secretly be an excuse for the author to exercise their hidden tentacle fetish. Either way: This map has lots of edges and bumpiness that can catch you off guard or entangle you as you move around, but I like this (and is symbolically on theme..?). Gotta say as one pony DWF member to another, I LOVED the face replacement! <3 The teal-purple colour palette is wonderful to look at and visually, this map is pure joy through and through! At least of what I could tolerate... So you know the whole "some easy-to-medium combat"? Maybe our definitions of easy are different but I wouldn't call anything harder than Plutonia Easy-Medium. XD Yeah I did honestly give this a try but jesus that purple trap is really unforgiving, especially since its a cramped room with 2 cybies, several caco's and PE's along with Pinkies who really do like to eat my backside for some reason. >_> Despite the pretty harsh difficulty, I DO recommend people give this a try! :D 1 Share this post Link to post

Although perhaps calling it medium-difficulty because it isn't as overcooked as what the speedrunning community normally practices is not particularly accurate. Still, the presence of damage-floors practically everywhere is indeed, true to life and having had a toxic relationship with a friend basically end recently, I know all too well what that's like! 3 Share this post Link to post

apichatpong Posted January 2 Great map, although difficult ! Loved the atmosphere. Still one secret to find... maybe another well hidden switch ? Two remarks : - even if it's anecdotic, me and my mediocre level of gameplay managed to fall in the beginning and even with the instant death you can see missing texture at the bottom of the cliff just before the entering switch - maybe it's bad gzdoom physics but the archvile appearing in front of the plasma gun has a tenedency to fall and so is sometimes non-killable. 2 Share this post Link to post

That's what I thought... but my macOS is too old for the dsda doom launchers and when I try to upgrade it, it bugs... so, for now, i have to stay with gzdoom for cl21... anyway,, this thing with the archvile is anecdotic since i'm not a completist speedrunner and, to be honest, it even helped me in this difficult map :) (even if, reading your first post about this map, it might forbid me to reach the "archvile jump" soul sphere ? 1 Share this post Link to post

dashiefrickintyan Posted January 2 (edited) hihi everyone! when i woke up and opened DW i got blasted with love and feedback from you guys. thank you all a lot, i didn't expect this map to have such a warm welcome 💜 i've read all posts and watched most demos/videos, but before replying to some stuff i'll tell you changes i made for RC2 (download in the OP!) smol changes: Spoiler - final switch lowers the bridge to prevent cheese (yummy) or breaking the fight - removed some homs at the beginning:) - changed m_skull a little bit - changed some strings for cheats. if you're having a hard time with fights, don't feel bad about using iddqd or idfa! - fixed some missaligned textures (if you find more, pls don't tell me for my own sanity) - changed offset for fist sprite so it doesn't look strange without hud - sadly, love is still isn't here.... now to some quotes! dashiefrickintyan Posted January 5 hiya again! thanks again for more kind words and epic playthroughs💜 while i was attempting a UV-Max of this, i got really annoyed by some stuff + i noticed some fuck-ups in rc2 soooooo i apologize to people who already recorded demos, but RC3 is here! this version will go to idgames, so yeah:p omega smol list of changes (download in OP!): Spoiler - moved an annoying torch on the way to anti-emotional suit secret (dumdum ass torch rrrrrrrrrrr) - ^made the secret switch a bit more visible lol - teal key wall is now NOT lower unpegged (it was pretty confusing for blind players) - added new sprite for plasma and fixed one wrong SSG sprite lol - added a bit more information in credits - oh right... fixed some more missaligned textures lfg - love is still not there... poor dashie (also holy shit this wad has more spheres than any other stuff i've posted. thank you all again sooooo much <3) 6 Share this post Link to post
