SirPootis Posted January 17 H&K G11. Such an oddball firearm, and an incredibly fascinating feat of engineering. Spoiler Interior mechanism (look at this fucking thing) Close seconds are the FN Five-seveN and the GM6 Lynx Five-seveN Spoiler GM6 Lynx Spoiler 2 Share this post Link to post
Somniac Posted January 17 (edited) I've only ever shot one gun with live rounds, a Smith & Wesson M&P15 in .22 rimfire, so I guess that's the favourite by default: Handles nicely and no recoil to speak of, so great for target shooting. I've also fired a handful of matchlock pistols and a Blunderbuss, those were blanks, the Blunderbuss was absolutely hilarious though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kalashnikov47 Posted January 17 Also the starting weapon in Doom. How can you go wrong with it? 4 Share this post Link to post
Aeddes666 Posted January 17 My .357. Easy to use/carry, precise, easy to find ammo (can use .38 too) and have stopping power to beat an adult boar. 2 Share this post Link to post
fai1025 Posted January 17 I never shot nor touched a real gun before, but aesthetically my favourite gun is either FN FAL or the Lee-Enfield. 0 Share this post Link to post
mrthejoshmon Posted January 17 Haven't ever had an interaction with a real firearm but I can appreciate a good looking weapon. Favourite off look alone are the ill fated OICW range, most notably the XM29 just for it's bizarre retro future look. 0 Share this post Link to post
Master O Posted January 17 (edited) Given that much of Doomworld is not from the USA, how do you guys own guns? Isn't private ownership of guns either heavily restricted or outright banned? 0 Share this post Link to post

Jello Posted January 18 (edited) I'm not going to post pictures of my own VEPR .308, but this is my favorite rifle: It's based on the RPK light machine gun, everything on it is reenforced to handle full rifle cartridges, and it's a great rifle. Oh, and the FN-FAL is a fantastic rifle as well if you're looking for something in a .308. And the Mossberg 500 series is great if you're looking for a pump shotgun, I have nothing but great things to say about them. As far as pistols, the EAA Witness in 10mm is my favorite handgun: Based on the CZ-75, it's never failed to fire or feed, and it's reasonably priced. And it's really accurate. LoatharMDPhD Posted January 18 (edited) // 1899 Mosin_nagant PU Sniper was always a nice guy to bring to the range... fun factoid.. the soviets used german optics because they didn't fog up or loose zero as easily as the russian built glass.. I have a Russian M91/30 and a Romanian M44 Carbine, and they are amazing rifles. They get crap for being dirt cheap rifles, but I can't think of any other rifle that offers the accuracy, reliability, and the stopping power of the 7.62x54R cartridge for the price. I bought my first Mosin (the M44) from my Dad, and he sold it to me for $20 because he traded a guy a box of high end shotgun shells for it. I cleaned it up, put a scope on it, and it's my hunting rifle now. 2 Share this post Link to post
Jello Posted January 18 11 minutes ago, DNSKILL5 said: Plus they’re not so cheap anymore lol. I haven't checked prices recently, but nothing is cheap anymore. I remember going into a gun store in 2004 and they had a bin full of Mosin Nagants, labeled "AS IS", cheapest price was $65. I guess I was lucky, as I said, I got my M44 from my Dad for $20, it had a split butt stock that had been nailed together, the finish on it looked like someone had diarrhea and then vomitted on it, and he didn't like the recoil from the steel butt plate. But the first time I fired it, I saw promise in it. I spent some time giving it TLC, I glued the butt stock back together, sanded it down and gave it a new dark red finish, got a rubber butt plate so the recoil doesn't destroy your shoulder, got a turned down bolt, put a scope on it. And now it's a great rifle. The last time my Dad saw it he said "Is that the rifle I sold you for twenty bucks?" "Yup" "Well, if I would've known it would clean up that well I would've kept it." The 91/30 is a vintage WWII rifle, made in 1942, with a hammer and sickle stamp on it. It's nice, and I can get a bulls eye at 100 yards with iron sights, but I'd rather not use it that often. It's a vintage piece. 1 Share this post Link to post
DSC Posted January 18 I have a soft spot for the G3. Was the standard issue of our troops for a long time, including when my dad was a part of the military police. From what he has told me, it seems to have been quite the potent weapon. 1 Share this post Link to post
MisterCopper Posted January 18 Personally, I prefer the SIG-Sauer P226. Not because I own one, but because it looks like it can get the job done for me. 1 Share this post Link to post

Armed too the Teeth... a pair of CZ VZ-52's in 7.62 Tokarev , Glock gen4 G34 practical tactile in 9 x 19, and a $200 Norinco M1911A1... rattled to death but fun to blast with; the opposite of a wilson combat 1911... 1 Share this post Link to post

Jello Posted January 19 (edited) Took some digging, but I knew I had a picture of my Mosin M44: Not the best picture in the world, but it's a damn good rifle. Best twenty bucks I ever spent. And yes, it has a side-folding bayonet on it, and yes, I've tried to take it off. The lug screw is completely stuck, and it's not coming out. 3 Share this post Link to post

ChopBlock223 Posted January 20 Tough question for me, as there's so many, with so many different purposes, but I'll say the Colt 733, one of the forerunners to the M4A1. On 1/16/2024 at 10:31 PM, Mr. Freeze said: Sad to see it on it's way out but it had a helluva run. I have quite a lot of doubt about the M5 and its future, it's an extremely impractical concept intended to solve questionable problems, and has some very serious flaws which normal assault rifles and battle rifles do not have. The fact that it IS a battle rifle is a massive step backwards in infantry doctrine, and the idea of being able to defeat Lv.4 body armor at relatively long distances (which it is very unclear if it can actually do), makes me inclined to believe that the NGSW concept as a whole would only really work as a new form of Designated Marksman's Rifle, but it'd need some important changes for that. 1 Share this post Link to post
