[Community Project] THE HALLS SPEAK TO ME: A tribute to Underhalls and single-level PWADs

Question: I noticed that in the map list - MAP08 is set as an empty spot. Would you be interested in a short map that I made a few days ago? It's a very experimental map and there might be chance that you might not like it, but you can test it and tell me what you think!

Sorry, I forgot to update the main post but MAP08 has been taken by someone over on the discord server. However, you can still show your map here since there are a couple people who have taken slots but haven't responded since.

Title: Bluehalls

Slot: Not set, the placement can be chosen by the project lead. However - if you think that this map might not fit in with the other maps - I wouldn't mind if the map was set as an extra "warp-only" map in the MAP33 slot (kinda like the map "Chocolate" from Plutonia 2).

Ports Tested: Woof, PrBoom-Plus

Known Bugs: If you run fast enough - you can skip one of the linedefs in the room where you get the blue key - causing the one lowering wall to glitch out, however - by walking onto the platform with the rocket launcher - the glitched wall will fix itself.

Additional Comments: A somewhat experimental map that some people might not like. No midi has been chosen unfortunateley. Don't use a "kill all enemies" cheat while playing - it will break one of the scripted sequences. Coop spawns and Deathmatch spawns are set, but they are untested.

This was a really fun map to play through. It pulls the rug out from underneath you around every corner but it never felt like it was done in a mean way, I'd say it's more of a light-hearted cheekiness, and it's a short enough map for it to not get annoying. The visuals are great too, it looks neat while still being fairly detailed, and the choice of textures is great, you can never go wrong with compblue, compspan, and silver. I reckon it would fit just fine as a secret map

It's kinda in the incubation chamber right now since I got busy with college stuff as of late. I plan on picking it back up again soon though! Just gotta get real life stuff in order first.

Really cool concept, underhals has gotta be the most seen level after you finish a single level PWAD. It's midi is also very soothing. Can't wait to see this finished.

Too late for me to participate in this now but I really hope there's a Hell-themed version of Underhalls in here. It's possible that Underhalls originally was a Hell level before being heavily redesigned judging by the early level order.

Sorry for the bump. Just want to know if there are any updates on this project!

I'm assuming that we'll get a release around the beginning of next year. Either that or Christmas, if we're lucky!.

Working on my own map at the moment, I should have something to show for it soon. Once I finish my own map I can go back to doing playtests and music composition.

Yeah I'm kinda tied up right now since I have a lotta MIDIs to go through, There's also my own map but I'm not exactly pushing for a full megawad anymore if it becomes too much of a slog, since there's already plenty of good maps.

How many maps are guaranteed to be here? Like 29 to 30, or less than that?

15 are completed, although some with no MIDI yet. I think there are still people around working on maps but the current ballpark I'm expecting is 15-20 since some people have been inactive for a while after taking a slot.

I could potentially make a MIDI for this. Would it be okay if its only connection to The Healer Stalks is using the same set of instruments?

You could, I think the instrument set for the healer stalks pretty recognizable depending on how you pull it off. Maybe throw in a short nod to the salsa section for good measure.

Jumping into this a bit late but I can't wait to see the project finished. I'm a big fan of community projects. Someday I may be confident and on time enough to contribute to one of these but for now I'm happy just watching and playing along.

First version of Wonderhalls is done. I want to add some more detail, and refine the combat a bit. Would love some feedback on it before I finish it.
