Enjoyed this one. The music fits nicely with how chaotic the beginning is. I forgot to grab the blue armor at the start which led to me getting absolutely walloped on my first go. I'm going to assume the two pinkies stuck in each other was done on purpose :)

Description: I wanted to start the player in an L-shaped trench as a reference to Scythe map 13, but the map very quickly becomes it's own thing after that. Just a minor visual reference.

Good stuff. The beginning managed to jump scare me pretty good. Lots of fun little encounters in this one (blue key fight was my favorite). The mastermind is less of a threat and more of an ssg ammo dump.

@A2Rob About time I show something about my map that I'm currently rushing. Set on a "super tough, super secret map" based on the Egypt episode of Scythe II (since it's my favorite). I'll try to get it in playable state until the deadline, but you're free to pick it up if I will not deliver it on time.

looks like a mix between the egypt and garden episode. Looks strangely majestic.

Gotcha. I will say I requested an open slot back in December as well as a few weeks ago, though.

I think this is cool but maybe the text shouldn't be in the titlepic and split into an M_DOOM? I imagine once the player opens the menu it might look a little weird.

Would be super cool to have a silver-y drill as the M_SKULL.
 

I think separating out the title as an M_DOOM is def the way to go, but I wonder if it could pop more visually. The white nightmare text really jumps out in the original TITLEPIC, whereas this new M_DOOM, while overall an improvement, kind of blends in with the background. I like the typeface better than the classic nightmare font though, it feels appropriately metallic and industrial.

ngl I'm not a fan of this. The brown and the orange looms ugly because there isn't really any contrast. They're the same value of orange and brown, and therefore, it looks kinda muddy.

I don't think it looks muddy at all. In fact I quite like this HUD, I think the orange and whites pop really well against the brown background.

Beginning was a lot of fun. I almost didn't have enough ammo to finish off the rev/archie wave.

 

That second area on the other hand was quite brutal. Seems like it would be kind of a pain to try and kill everything with just plasma. Maybe having a BFG become available after pressing a few of the exit switches would be helpful.

 

I'd suggest switching the insta-kill floors to damage 10-20%. In prboom it only does like 5 damage which takes too long to kill the player. (The project is technically cl9 after all).

Started work on my map, doing a sort of modern take on burial grounds with a planned twist. Doing some non-almy things like using angles and and more intricate structures, but I want to capture what I think Alm did best; clear, concise paced adventures with a twist around every corner and an abstract implementation of a endless barrel of concepts (and yes, there will be an alm hell somewhere). Not using the resource yet, just doing some blocking out :O

Status update: Egyptian theme didn't really worked out for me, so I restarted the map. Decided to go with Earth Jungle episode from Scythe 2; I'll finish the playable version of the map on April 1st and will do bugfixing/balancing after the feedback (if allowed of course). WIP screenshot below.
