I've said before that ErikkTehDestroyer played Hexen 1 as Cleric in the base game and as Fighter in Deathkings of the Dark Citadel (which he incorrectly called Deathknights of the Dark Citadel) and as the Paladin in Hexen 2 from my memory from many years ago.

Hmm, well, if that's so then it wasn't him either.

If there were even a clip with his voice somewhere I'd be more able to say if he sounds like my memory or not

One thing that I do remember about Erikk is that he did have a somewhat odd voice (which might indicate that he had some sort of accent), but he also had a pretty bad microphone. But I think that @Wadmodder Shalton is probably right and there might be a chance that it's not Erikk.

There was an old video I used to watch showing how real guns were used to produce sound effects in COD: World at War. It had rock music playing in the background, which I really loved. It was deleted off YouTube for reasons unexplained and I couldn't find it in other hosting sources, far as I'm concerned. I also don't know if the Wayback Machine has the video archived or not.

It would be cool if the Black & White games made a comeback. They're pretty underrated LionHead studio games. I can't really find a good way to play them either, they're pretty much abandonware at this point.

I'm going to mention this here just on the wild off chance it rings a bell with anyone who can fill me in with any info (or maybe even knows where this is but at this point I assume it was removed from the Internet or something).

Anyway, I remember a Let's Play of Hexen II: Portal of Praevus with the following characteristics:

- Was done by a guy with an accent (I can't place exactly, but maybe Scandinavian or Eastern European; definitely an "English is not this person's first language" sound to it).  He was fairly cheerful/energetic as I recall, not deadpan like some of the other PoP LPs I've looked up trying to find this.

- Demoness playthrough, with the player constantly saying "Sexy Demoness" instead of simply "Demoness" and introducing each episode with something like "Time for Portal of Praevus with the Sexy Demoness!"

- Showed off how to find the Nightmare portal in the first level, which seems to be a practically unknown/forgotten secret (last time I asked another Hexen 2 player about it, I think he ended up using a BSP decompiler to be able to tell me where it was, but he did confirm to me that such a thing exists).

- It's possible that it was on a different video platform than YouTube, but I can't be certain either way on that one.

- Additionally, old.  Definitely before 2020 and almost certainly several years before at that.

- Not BZPlasma (too new, doesn't show the portal or have the accent I recall)

- Not Weavaloid (not enthsiastic or horny enough, doesn't show the portal)

- unsure on ErikkTehDestroyer, not enough information to go on and some people think he didn't play Demoness it seems.  Still the best candidate so far.

I may, of course, be misremembering finer details but that's the gist of it.  Did anyone else see this?  Does it still exist?  Am I insane?

Could be this one. It's from 2007 (Holy cow!), He has a rather strong accent (Canadian?), and he shows off the nightmare portal secret. No "Sexy Demoness" from what I watched, however. Below that is ErikTehDestroyer's "New" channel where most of his old let's plays were rerecorded if you want to check it out for yourself. Fairly certain it's not going to be him, though. I can't recall him playing Portal of Praevus and he sounds American to me.

So a piece of @Ar_e_en's lost media is solved, supposedly.

All right, I think at this point it's safe to say we're dealing with some sort of warped/amalgamated memory because I'm pretty sure that this is the LP I was thinking of in so far as the Nightmare portal bit is concerned, because the bit where he talks about breaking the severed heads and sometimes mana comes out seemed familiar in it, too (and like I said, it seems like almost no one, not even Hexen II enthusiasts, knows about the nightmare secret).

It doesn't match the other bits though so that still leaves the mystery of the "sexy demoness" guy which was probably some other LP if I didn't somehow dream it up completely.  I'm going to suggest it's also possible he was German?  Since I was watching one of GermanPeter's videos recently and he sounds a bit like the voice I remember.

"A Nightmare On Elm Street" NES prototype, where you were supposed to play from Freddy's perspective.

First version of "Maniac" song by Michael Sembello, when it was literally a song about maniac, before he remade it for "Flashdance"

Eric Harris lost wads, despite he's a terrible person, still, I believe I'm not the only one who's very curious.

All those Doom assets, which John Romero didn't upload because of Bethesda, ;(

You aren't. A few years after playing his WAD, UAC Labs, I've wondered what his other publically un-released WADs were like for quite some time, most particularly "REALDOOM". Apparently you had to contact him through e-mail back then to obtain that WAD, which is impossible now due to Eric taking his own life alongside his friend Dylan during the Columbine massacre.

Unpopular no longer available games such as Babylon's Fall or The Day Before.

I found it sad that only somehow popular games get all the attention from gaming communities when they disappear. Almost everyone is aware about UbiSoft's The Crew's closing ans removal from player's accounts and all Nintendo eShop services shutting down last month on WiiU and 3DS devices. But what about games that were not as popular as them?

Wait, so Erikk essentially "re-branded" and re-recorded his old Let's Plays?

Listening to his voice - It does kinda sound like him (from what I can remember at least), but with a better microphone. Like, I'm trying to recreate his old voice in my mind by remembering his "Tetris: Charity Edition" video (because I sort of remember that video very distinctively) and it sorta fits. An interesting development at least!

Yeah, that one hurts.

I think I mentioned Hecatomb earlier in the thread but I'm not sure that anything of it ever actually existed (that didn't get rolled into Hexen II) outside of some rough planning ideas.

There was this Doom episode speed run video where the demo played on the upper slope isometric perspective but can't find it anymore. It was uploaded 5+ years ago.

Not sure if anyone here is into lostwave, but there was a major discovery recently. Everyone Knows That/Ulterior Motives was found, and from an 80s porno soundtrack no less!

Now we're just waiting on a cleaner, hi-def version without the cooming in the background. There are also remixes out there already.

Yeah I heard about this. Too funny.

Some of the YouTube comments are great: "This is a banger in so many ways" XD

Apparently, according to Tyler McVicker, there was a compromise of Valve's development FTP server in the first half of 2000, which caused a couple of people to download whatever was on there at the time, which included a closed beta of Team Fortress 2 Brotherhood of Arms. This incident didn't get any attention by the gaming press compared to the infamous Half-Life 2 leak of 2003, and all the content from the 2000 Valve FTP leak is now lost.

Oh and also the soon to be closed Xbox 360 store, and the old titles from the  Xbox Live Indie Games service.

Ah, Brotherhood of Arms! I was very interested on this early iteration of TF2 when I first found out about it. I seriously hope someone still have the build in possession somewhere on an old hard drive. Can't wait to get a taste of how BoA is like, live and in the flesh.

My most sought-after item would be an old set of VHS tapes we had in the early 90's that compiled a lot of old CGI animation into a series of tapes by Fresh Electronic Publishing / Fresh Video Portfolio. This was different from Mind's Eye in that a lot of these companies putting their best efforts forward not only included some CGI shorts, but also commercial demonstrations from television and film. It was usually done in montage fashion either with copyrighted music or original compositions. My father got a hold of a few of them in the early 90's and my sister and I grew up watching them mesmerized, but we lost them sometime in the early 2000's and I haven't been able to find any uploads of them for decades.

That is until some years ago, someone uploaded the one from 1992, and more recently 1991.

The last piece of the puzzle would be for someone to find and upload the one from 1990 - ironically, that was my favorite tape of the series, and the one I remembered the most, but seemingly it's evaded the spotlight. I managed to find some libraries that carry it in a few states, but I've no idea if there's any way to obtain it, and apparently there was another tape that came out in 1994 that I didn't know about (probably because we obtained these before that one was made). I really wish someone would find and upload it to the internet archive and YouTube, as I've long wondered about this piece of media for decades.

Great news: somebody identified the source of the Backrooms image. It was apparently taken in a store in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 2002.

Once upon a time there was a Quake 2 TC in the works called Perilith.  I think the story is it was one of those projects that got over-ambitious, tried to become a standalone game, and then quit completely, but I'm not sure.

The main remaining thing of it seems to be this knight model that, if you've played low-budget shareware/freeware games from a particular era, you've probably seen borrowed before, but I think there were at least screenshots and stuff at one point.

http://old.perilith.com/pknight/

While I'm mentioning such things, HacX 2 as well.  I think that the dev who's still in contact with Doomers said at one point that most/all of what was made for it was irrecoverably junked at this point?

There was also the LUC project which was also a Quake 2 engine game, originally being developed by TeamTNT and later by Suspension Software which had its website taken down by the late-2000s.

Also lost from TeamTNT are any materials for the cancelled projects that in development in the late-1990s. By 2007, a message was added to the top of TeamTNT's future projects page indicating that these were cancelled. These cancelled projects were:

Doom Revisited - 32-level solo-play level pack attempting to recreate the feel of the original Doom/Doom2 series

Eternally New - 32-level multiplayer Doom DM run through the Eternal Shell focusing on cooperative play

PuzzleWorld - solo-play level pack focusing on puzzles

Ragnarok: The Search For Aasgard and Ragnarok DM - a total conversion which was awaiting development of the Open Gaming Resource Engine (OGRE)

Open Gaming Resource Engine (OGRE) - a source merger project between BOOM, WinDoom, and DOSDoom among others. This is not related to the non-TeamTNT OGRE Engine

An additional 25 maps for Eternal Doom IV to convert it into a megawad, as the demo release was the final TeamTNT project ever released.

Also, the TeamTNT DoomWiki page needs to be updated to indicate the defunct status of the group, and that the website was taken down in 2016, a year after Ty Halderman's passing.

I love collecting and archiving old video games, series, music and books - in fact I've got a small passion for media and particularly game preservation -  but don't usually go out of my way to find "lost" stuff so much as occasionally pick something obscure up by accident.

My particular focus for preservation is DOS retrogaming from the late 80s and above. I just can't bring myself to enjoy most games running on less than EGA, although I'll still keep a copy around of older titles without "enhanced" graphics. I've got a Magic Desk setup with a DOS icon editor, and am slowly but surely populating my own version of the many DOS game archives out in the world. Once it's ready, maybe I'll even host it as an online archive project/abandonware site (until the DMCA vultures strike me down).

GoG has made it easier to get a lot of these games without donning a digital peg leg, but I'm still building my retro collection through other means because US and EU currencies both utterly dominate my own currency in purchasing power. And they also sometimes simply can't get a license due to patent trolls and corporate hoarding.

i'm probably one of the few people out there to know about this but: on youtube there used to be a series called "Super Mario VIP" or something along those lines that i now can't find anywhere on the internet. episodes were, probably, no longer than 10 minutes and consisted of toy versions of mario and luigi just going about their day doing stuff, like in one episode where they have to fix a water tap in the apartment complex the series was filmed in. from what i remember, the guy making it was mexican and most episodes took place either on the roof of one of the buildings or in a parking lot. i think yoshi was in it too?? and also a max steel action figure for some reason?? i watched it when i was very young so i don't remember a lot of details aside from what i just said, i remember liking it a lot but now i think it is 100% lost unfortunately
