SkidyBoobFish Posted June 10 Hello This is my third Doom WAD and it's a 32 level MegaWAD for Doom 2 This WAD is Dedicated to my Crush whom probably doesn't like me. Some levels are reminicend of Doom II and I'm Sorry for that and the levels get better as you go on. Screenshots Emergency On Planet Earth.rar 6 Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted June 10 Looks like a neat old-school WAD! What source ports is this intended for, or is it vanilla-compatible? BTW, this should be in WAD Releases & Development rather than WAD Discussion, since you're releasing the WAD, and you'll probably get more attention there. Maybe a mod could move the thread. 0 Share this post Link to post

It is intended for GZDoom and i didn't know where to put this, Sorry. 0 Share this post Link to post
Somniac Posted June 10 1 hour ago, Shepardus said: Looks like a neat old-school WAD! What source ports is this intended for, or is it vanilla-compatible? They're vanilla format maps, just booted it in Crispy and its working fine. Glancing quickly through the editor they appear to be almost all doom2.exe compatible, but MAP28 will require a limit-removing port, at least. Just whizzed through the first few maps and it seems like a fairly fun 90s style mapset! 0 Share this post Link to post
TMMMS Posted June 10 impressive especially for a full megawad from a newcomer! i must ask though is the soulsphere secret in map03 supposed to count as a secret? because it didnt and i was able to get max secrets but not max items without getting it 0 Share this post Link to post

Just whizzed through the first few maps and it seems like a fairly fun 90s style mapset! I scanned the levels for any Boom linedef actions/sector types and found none, it's all vanilla format. I played through the first seven maps in Nugget Doom (-complevel 2) and didn't run into any showstoppers; the worst I found was a hanging corpse unexpectedly blocking me in MAP04's nukage corridor. BTW, in that same map (MAP04), the secret with the plasma gun counts as two secrets, which seems like it may have been an unintentionally divided sector. I've enjoyed what I've played of this WAD so far, it's simple and nostalgic fun. There's no need to apologize for the levels being reminiscent of Doom II's; while there are familiar structures in the maps, they're all more than distinct enough to be their own thing. Rather than being a slavish imitation, it lends a sense of familiarity that makes me feel clever for anticipating the beats, which is how an homage ought to be. I think you're underselling yourself, this WAD is better than you give yourself credit for! 1 Share this post Link to post
TMMMS Posted June 11 made it to map09 and part of me wishes this couldve been called doom ii the way chris klie did because of the fairly small monster population and the generous secrets so far which i guess is fine since i recently went through chris klie maps and had a blast once! 0 Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted June 11 Not really lots to say, other than this does indeed work in Crispy Doom, I guess there was some MAPINFO issues in the 3 map set you released before but this is perfectly fine! Although in Map 09, a particular Imp closet has them all frozen in place. And the city levels are certainly more resembling real-world places than the original! Funny how Map 12 has the same concept as it's counter part in Doom II: The Way Id Did, not a bad thing or anuthing! 0 Share this post Link to post
