Video games with your favorite sound design?

Doom 1 and 2, Quake, Half-Life 1, all the classic Mortal Kombats, Metal Gear Solid, Minecraft, Resident Evil (specially 4 and "¡Detrás de ti, imbécil!"), Breath of the Wild (the futuristic shit specially sounds really cool), Ballance (marble game from 2004, I love it), Super Tux (open source Mario clone), Age of Empires 2 (I've never played it actually but the sound effects are just a gift from paradise)

There's something really unique about the sound design in Valve's Source games, particularly Day of Defeat, Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2. The sounds, particularly the weapons feel punchy and recongizable.

Insurgency Sandstorm for the realism, some of the death screams just straight up make you feel bad for the enemy

 

Sonic Unleashed for the soundtrack and the sound effects themselves, i really like that speed radar thing that plays when you pass a checkpoint

Doom 3's sound design still impresses me to this day.  Especially the plasma gun and the "plink" sound when you reload it as you drop the empty canister.

I recently played Escape From Tarkov and the sound work in this game is phenomenal. Absolutely everything - from steps on different surfaces, to characters screaming and shooting, all this is at its best.

 

Silent Hill 3 simply has the best sounds and dark ambient in the entire series. Even when you're just walking through the twisted and distorted corridors, the game truly terrorizes you with its sound design, forcing you to shrink into your chair in fear.

Yesss. These were exactly my thoughts. Shooting, ambient music, picking up objects - all this has a very good sound design.
I especially like the sound of the SSG reloading from RoE. It's just.... so massive and powerful.

Also Half-Life 1 and Counter Strike 1.6 have very good sounds

I agree, and Half Life 1 is my favorite Half Life game, but Black Mesa's sound design has always felt... diagetic? The sound design feels real, and not to game-ey. The doors buzz when they don't work, the first aid sounds play air hissing sounds, etc. Still, Hl1's sound design holds a place in my heart :)

The sound design of DUSK (It is required by law to write it like that) is great, nice and chunky, just feels good man

Ultrakill's sound design is just legendary tho, it just radiates power

I remember being really obsessed with Arma 2s JSRS mod which basically replaces all sounds with more realistically sounding ones. Man... the sounds of the bullets snapping close by and distant gunfire effects, the A-10 Warthogs delayed minigun buzzing after the rounds hit the target... Chef's kiss, man.

 

DiRT 2 and 3 also have some unbelievably amazing sound design. Your car's engine echoing in the tunnels of Monte Carlo, the exhaust snapping as you down/upshift, the turbo whine is really satisfying to hear. Then you got the Trailblazer cars that sound like absolute weapons.

GTA 3

 

Everything about the games sound design just takes me back to 2003 when I first played the game. From the message box that appears on screen down to the radio stations that play in the cars.

I could say Metal Hellsinger. With the DLCs, we can shoot in rhythm on Depeche Mode.

Unreal and Deus Ex have such fantastic soundtracks, that it's the only reason why I ever continued to play those games. The games are also good, but damn, the songs just hit different.

Also I love Spear of Destiny: Lost Episodes sound design. They are more sinister and scary, but this is only a plus for the game.
