8 bit DM is the most original Doom WAD I've seen since, ohh, DWF3

I played vacuity a while back when I wanted to see the state of the art of legacy maps.

I have to say; I wasn't too impressed. Sorry.

Well, whoever it was (logged in as Hyena of course) could easily have double-posted to get that fp in...so Hyena's fp is fake.

Is that really the way it works? I assumed the poster details for the initial post were hacked in (rather than a staffer logging in as the reviewer - I'd hope and presume that is not possible), since it doesn't increase the reviewer's post-count.

um, posting something from DW's content management system automatically creates a new forum thread in the Doomworld News forum with the name of the updater chosen. No one has to log into his forum account.

OK, thanks, that explains everything. So the "FP" (i.e. first reply) can't be posted in the same way as the article itself.

That also means that the reviewer isn't handicapped by the "only one post per minute" rule in the all-important race to get FP.

Where was I? I was in class today until 4pm.

And the news updates aren't posted the same way as the rest of the forum threads, they're actually posted on the front page via a news script (made by ling) that posts the update, archives it, boots the last update off the frontpage, moves all the rest down, and makes a new thread in the proper forum with the username based on one from a list we select (so for instance I could update as Bloodshedder or Mordeth or Ultimate Doomer any time if I wanted).

And that's everyone's DW educational fact of the day.

How can I get just the music from 8 bit deathmatch? Some good stuff in there.

Xaser's pistol had an interesting glitch/error/whatever. A small strip of sprite followed the pistol he made. There's a pic of it here. But still, it was an interesting play.

exactly what makes Vaucity require the latest legacy? don't seem to be utilising anything xept the 3d floors and coronas.

But for that, i should firstly get enough furryartists and then a programmer who knows the doom source insideout.
Finaly a bunch_o_LevelMonkeys (succsesors of the codemonkey ;) ) and we should be set to do a Mod to prove that idsoftware games arnt just bloody but can do something for kids too ;)

8bit DM is spectacular. And I normally dont care about DM maps.

That makes NO sense. I know you've reviewed a hundred times and you know that after you submit them, one of the staffers posts the reviews under your name.
I simply waited for the update and posted the reply. This is the first "FP" I've got. Let me win for once, damnit!

Open the wad in an editor and extract all the music files as a lump, then rename them to the appropriate extension. The txt file says what their names are. If you want, you could even load the MODs (or XMs and S3Ms) into a mod tracker and convert them to MP3.

Well, I gave it a mixed review. Some things are good, some things are awful. It was worth playing for a few minutes, but I didn't even bother playing all the way through :p.

Well, both times I got fp was in other people's newstuffs...so there's plenty of chances to win. Besides, I bet you couldn't log in if the staffer was already logged in as you...so unless you land in that small timeframe between the staffer logging out and someone getting fp, then there's no way you could do it without the staffer double-posting.

What do you get for getting fp?

Yep, that site is great. Just found it couple of weeks ago.

Some chiptunes there too.
