Derrick Posted March 15, 2002 WindowsXP=Evil! I use Win95 Rev 2.1 and it runs perfectly. My Win95 machine boots into the desktop with no waiting curson in 30 seconds. Its not to bad for a 400mhz Celery. 0 Share this post Link to post
boris Posted March 15, 2002 Basically all Windows ports of Doom should work (ZDoom, PRBoom, Legacy, JDoom...), maybe even some DOS ports will work (didn't check it myself). WinXP is a pretty nice OS, though there is no real need to upgrade if you already got Win2k. Win95 is teh shit though. And who cares about boot times anyways? How often do you reboot your computer? I usually boot only once a day, so I'd not even care if booting took 5 mins. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted March 16, 2002 If you care that much about boot times, why not just use DOS? 0 Share this post Link to post
KING ELVIS Posted March 16, 2002 Originally posted by Tarin maybe even some DOS ports will work (didn't check it myself). I ever had some problems while trying this. In fact only Win32 ports do "really" work :) 0 Share this post Link to post

KING ELVIS Posted March 17, 2002 Try this: open up the file SYSTEM.INI from the windows folder, then search for the line starting with Shell= and make it looking like this: Shell=c:\doom2\doom2.exe 0 Share this post Link to post

Derrick Posted March 21, 2002 What is it that WinXp includes which make it sucks 2.1 gb of space? What features other than the New Restore use that much space? 0 Share this post Link to post
boris Posted March 21, 2002 Originally posted by Derrick What is it that WinXp includes which make it sucks 2.1 gb of space? What features other than the New Restore use that much space? Well, my WinXP dir is only 1GB. And even if it took 2.1gb, big deal. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted March 21, 2002 Originally posted by Tarin Win95 is teh shit though.Possibly, but it's still a helluva lot better than 98/98se/ME, so for somebody who still wants DOS support on a 9X OS (yes I know WinME ditched DOS), 95B is the best thing available. ... /me continues to make backups in preparation for XP Pro. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted March 21, 2002 but it's still a helluva lot better than 98/98se/MEWhy do you even use those viruses for comparison? :P 0 Share this post Link to post
