"You've returned"

 

Project POD is a project I've been working on for Doom 2, now updated with additional features, better scripting and more! It is a series of platforming levels with a few RPG elements, each level is themed differently and features different sets of gimmicks inspired by Classic 2D platformers (conveyor belts, water puzzles, slippery floors...etc)

 

Gameplay:

You start out in a hub level, here you can either take the training courses before you begin or purchase weapons, powerups, upgrades...etc between levels, each time you complete a level you earn 1 token (max 2 at a time) which you can use to enter 1 chance rounds, another series of smaller tough levels that are presented as mini-games, completing them will reward you with 1 power coin which you can use in the hub to earn unique power-ups, failing them will bring you back to the hub with no reward. Combine your skills and use your power-ups effectively to complete all levels!

R4.4:

  • XP Rework, you now earn XP by completing levels, 10 for regular, 15 for bonus.
  • Updated hub. Added an option to reset progress, and marked maps that have hidden medals to make it easier to know which maps have the hidden medals.
  • Tweaked upgrade prices in the hub so that players don't become overpowered.
  • Time Attack mode is now enabled by default, no longer need to complete all main levels to unlock it, it is still optional however.
  • Various visual tweaks to several levels.
  • Various bug fixes.

R4.1:

  • 1 chance rounds are now entered via tokens instead of automatically.
  • Added hints to hidden gold medals in the hub.
  • Less bullet-sponginess in several levels.
  • Removed some sections of MAP05 to make it not drag on for too long.

  • Removed many redundant scripts and unified several scripts

Console Commands:

  • save_progress <bool> - enable Database features support (for online play) to automatically store players current level, xp and upgrade points so they can restore them when they login.

  • Remake MAP03, it hasn't aged well.
  • Rework the starting area of MAP05.

R4.4 is up! Here's what's changed since 4.1:

Thank you! the second floor currently only has 1 level, but I feel like the current state with a total of 19 levels of varied themes and gimmicks is not bad, I will continue to expand on it over time with additional levels.
