MissMelee Posted March 4, 2020 (edited) After about a dozen tries I stopped trying to beat it without saves. It's basically nonstop action, but I don't know if I'd call it "good." It's almost like a mini slaughter map. I did beat it, though, and I'm sure a lot of people here who are better than me (which is probably most of you) could beat it without saves no problem. The opening section especially feels like that kind of difficulty that isn't fun. There are ways to make hard fights fun (BTSX is my favorite example), which I didn't see any of in this map. I dunno, I didn't hate it, but the opening section is just really not fun. Edit: I grinded it out and finally beat it without saves on UV and boy is it tough, really just the opening section mainly thanks to the chaingunners and the enemy placement preventing you from restocking ammo easily. I was pretty hard on this map and I stand by it, but I did ultimately come back to it which is more than I can say for a lot of maps I've played. 5:29 was my time to UV Max it, if anyone's wondering. Noiser Posted March 4, 2020 (edited) Glad to see your nilla maps again, I think you should compile all on a megawad some day! The start area is cool imo, It's very fast-paced and I personally don't found it difficult. I also love the way how you handle flesh textures. The tricky part for me is the revenent ambush near to the end. Overall it's fun, short and sweet! edit: btw, the start is pretty funny with the spooky boi looking at you lol Edited March 4, 2020 by Noiser 0 Share this post Link to post
mmww Posted March 4, 2020 Interesting map! I had some issues in the beginning, but once you got out of the way for a bit and let the infighting take care of most of the demons in the starting area, things got a bit easier. Spoiler I must say that the imps behind the false wall were a bit annoying, but at least it wasn't chaingunners with an arch-vile behind them to resurrect them or something ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Egg Boy Posted March 4, 2020 Fun map, very oppressive. Feels like a Doom 2 Hell map crossed with an E4 map, in terms of gameplay. Played on HMP because UV was kicking my ass. The giant skull texture was cute, and the purple sky was awesome. 0 Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted March 5, 2020 I played your map .... sorry to say I sucked at it :S my horrible failure is here 0 Share this post Link to post

MissMelee Posted March 5, 2020 (edited) Grinded it more today and got a 4:51 UV Max. It is a very hard map, and after all the attempts I made the opening section is pretty much a coin toss with all the hitscanners whether you survive or not. But that's the hardest part. The rest is relatively easy once you know how to handle each encounter, although today I had a lot of bad luck in the Arch-vile room with the two Arch-viles positioning themselves in such a way and attacking at the same time that it was impossible to hide behind one of the pillars and evade both attacks. That happened like 3 times in a row. Edit: took my time down to 4:41. Edited March 5, 2020 by MissMelee 0 Share this post Link to post
Arbys550 Posted March 5, 2020 I played it. I liked the double archvile part and I guess the revenant part towards the end, but everything else I didn't like at all, mostly because I hate hitscanners. But the biggest offender was no armor. I don't know why, but no armor is something that will instantly make me hate a map, especially with revenants, where you can pretty much die in one hit. 1 Share this post Link to post
RonnieJamesDiner Posted March 5, 2020 The opening room is definitely the biggest hurdle here, I enjoyed trying to figure it out though. A quick, fun map. I was expecting some kind of vicious trap in the exit room, but these expectations were subverted! 0 Share this post Link to post

baja blast rd. Posted March 5, 2020 (edited) Did a max. Enjoyable map with reservations: - Green armor secret has no hints. I found it by humping all (but one I guess) of the identical Satyr faces. That is generally not a good approach to disguising those. - I think the roaming start chaingunners could be reduced in number without much loss. Now, you're kind of obligated to hide in the upper-right corner while they self-destruct, which I'd say is not very interesting. - On a broader note, I don't entirely understand the fascination with pairing health-deprivation and hitscan spam. I think low-health maps like these work better if mostly dealing with projectiles. I mean technically you could make hitscan spam work in such a map, but I think tactically it has to be more interesting than straightforward camping/hiding. 0 Share this post Link to post
xdarkmasterx Posted March 5, 2020 (edited) Thanks for playing the WAD guys On 3/4/2020 at 12:25 AM, MissMelee said: Edit: I grinded it out and finally beat it without saves on UV and boy is it tough, really just the opening section mainly thanks to the chaingunners and the enemy placement preventing you from restocking ammo easily. Well, after playing some old WADS, which have many hitscanners, I wanted to make a level with dangerous combat against zombies. This didn't turn out in the end, but the start of it remains never the less. I tested it until hopefully it wouldn't kill by RNG alone (there used to be less health and more chaingunners), and eventually I never had trouble to survive there, unless I fail to dodge the revenant rocket 9 minutes ago, rdwpa said: - Green armor secret has no hints. I just realized now, there is a non-secret armor and a SSG on Hurt Me Plenty. It's a much better experience imo. 1 Share this post Link to post
