BluePineapple72 Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) This goes without saying, but beware of spoilers. Specifically, potential final boss spoilers. Edited March 12, 2020 by BluePineapple72 20 Share this post Link to post

ArgentFrequencies Posted March 12, 2020 Did anyone notice the two different Icons in the trailer? One at the start which looks like a Makyr giant mech, and the other is the original flesh version (Of course with a full body). 7 Share this post Link to post

Doom Eternal: Shadow of the Colossus 2? *edit* Maybe the armored and naked Titans are both the Icon. Perhaps the Maykrs or UAC encased it in armor in an attempt to weaponize and control it, and at some point it breaks free? 0 Share this post Link to post
Taurus Daggerknight Posted March 12, 2020 So. HYPED. Did anyone else feel like the track was sort of reminiscent of one of those leaked tracks some years ago, that everyone was saying were from Doom 4 during its development (but I guess turned out to be from something else)? Leaked track (The resistance): Part that I was thinking of from this trailer: I know they aren't identical, but I just felt like there was some kind of call back going on. Wasn't the "leaked" stuff also Gordon? 0 Share this post Link to post
Eurisko Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) FUCK FUCKING YES!!!!!!! That was glorious. That was Doom porn. 4 Share this post Link to post
Komenja Posted March 12, 2020 Man, I wonder if the Icon of Sin fight is some Shadow of the Colossus style stuff. You've got so much aerial mobility now, it'd be awesome. 0 Share this post Link to post
AtimZarr1 Posted March 12, 2020 The final shot resembles the recent wallpaper, could possibly be an end credits shot? Sort of like how the Doom cover was recreated and shown at the end in the 2016 launch trailer then later again in the game's end credits. It's funny to compare this trailer to the ending of the 2016 campaign trailer where the Slayer got ripped in half by a Baron. 1 Share this post Link to post

It's apparent the Icon was intended to be a massive demon based on Doom 2's ending text, however that was an impossibility in 1994. Now it can be fully realized. 3 Share this post Link to post
dewmguy Posted March 12, 2020 Doomguy was wearing praetor suit in the arch-vile glory kill looks nice in first person 0 Share this post Link to post
dewmguy Posted March 12, 2020 That last IOS smack scene has me worrying that the boss fight would be like one of those giant monster standing beside a platform at it's waist level with telegraphed attacks. Kind of devolves the whole point of the boss being a giant 1 Share this post Link to post

I also thought the archvile was going to be a boss fight with the way they introduced him originally and thankfully that's not the case. Hopefully they don't ruin the Icon fight, but I have a feeling they'll do it right :) 2 Share this post Link to post
igg Posted March 12, 2020 I'm pretty sure the Khan Maykr is talking about the IoS except for the last sentence (the Slayers time is now). 0 Share this post Link to post
Wilke Posted March 12, 2020 Just now, igg said: I'm pretty sure the Khan Maykr is talking about the IoS except for the last sentence (the Slayers time is now). I felt the sameway, because from all the previous trailers the Khan Maykr was belittling the slayer. "Who are you, but a Human to defy our traditions". With emphasis of "being human" somehow makes us inferior. So with all her belittling, I dont see her calling us "the most dominant thing in the universe. That would be admitting they're inferior to us, unless heaven and hell belong to a different universe. 0 Share this post Link to post

With how mobile the Icon appears to be, I can see being a possibility 0 Share this post Link to post

I don't think it's the Khan Maykr speaking, the voice is a bit different. Khan Maykr's voice is more "shrill" or higher-pitched. I think it's from the voice that says "The only thing they fear is you" from the second trailer. "... and it carries a steel-barrel sword of vengeance" is referring to a shotgun. The entire trailer is about hyping the Slayer up, ending off with the "the Slayer's time is now", so it makes sense the rest of the trailer lines were referring to the Slayer and not the Icon of Sin. 2 Share this post Link to post
whatup876 Posted March 12, 2020 I wonder if he will still summon enemies out of his forehead, since he doesn't have a hole. Doom 2 RPG made the hole more natural looking. I hope he still has new/more abilities than just slamming his hands trying to hit the player. The armor suggests he may have two phases too. I also noticed a giant cross floating in Urdak. Before that cross/Urdak part, someone pointed out a statue of Olivia Pierce. 2 Share this post Link to post
Xyz Posted March 12, 2020 I wonder if they have any monster that's not been revealed yet. 0 Share this post Link to post

thewormofautumn Posted March 13, 2020 Trailer looks great. Very interested to see the how we fight the IOS. A mech would be interesting but not really DOOM. A platform (like the original Rage mutant boss fight) would be boring. But complete freedom of movement would be impossible. The IOS moved faster than you and destroys buildings. so I’m interested to see how they do this 0 Share this post Link to post
Caffeine Freak Posted March 13, 2020 5 hours ago, whatup876 said: The armor suggests he may have two phases too. This is exactly what I'm speculating. My guess is that you fight the IOS once, in his full flesh form, fuck him up, and then he's ressurrected somehow in a mech form later on. It would be fitting, since his original incarnation was surrounded by pipes and wires anyway. Hell, it would be really badass if, in his 'mech' form, he started off surrounded by and connected to a bunch of similar pipes, wires and circuits, only to wrench himself free when he's triggered. Super psyched about this. 1 Share this post Link to post
