It was a challenge to find a place in game to take a screenshot that is not too different from the original to modify it with monsters, blue sky and blue eyes/nose of IoS. In this case the middle part was only there for comparing it with the ingame position and take a screenshot when the position was nearly the same. I could not get it 100% accurate. The monsters were copied from the middle part. The sky, eyes and nose were colored by hand. One bonus this attempt has. The screenshot is in much higher resolution. The original picture has so much noise init and when i tried to put my extensions from the screenshot to that picture it did not match. I suppose, but I think making the image as faithful as possible is usually the best practice when it comes to these widescreen graphics. If I knew who made the 560px widescreen version, I would ask them what they did to replicate that dithering style from the original 320px image, but I don't know who did it, sadly. 0 Share this post Link to post

The middle part is the lump from TNT.WAD except that red forgotten pixel in the sky i corrected and some wrong pixels in the bottom line the original had. I have played around with different noises GIMP had. No glue whats the difference of all of them is, but i had found something for the wall texture that is not too bad. Even the floor left and right could be matched with a different noise filter so that they look nearly like the original. I will add both versions of this picture when i will release the "Ultra-Widerpix854" set. I had found a mars too, but that picture unfortunately translated bad to DOOMs color palette. And so you can use that DOOM palette in GIMP. When using GIMPs tools in "indexed" colors mode that uses the DOOM palette, the results are others than with full RGB and often better for that case.
