Shibainumaster Posted May 31, 2022 I already downloaded Fluidsynth,Timidity++ and if i'll download one more thing i think my computer will get AIDs. I can't seem to understand how those soundofnts and MIDI players work,i have the SF2 soundfont on my computer currently, but the "Use Fluidsynth" option is still unavailable (even though i've set the soundfont file path for it). Timidity doesn't work either,it is highlighted and an available option, but it doesn't do anything.I've set a file path here too,but to no avail.Timidity also has the "command line" field that i don't really know how important is,maybe i need to write something there so it starts playing MIDI's. Doesn anyone know how to solve this problem? 0 Share this post Link to post
Faceman2000 Posted May 31, 2022 I think MIDI playback is broken in some versions of SLADE. 0 Share this post Link to post
Shibainumaster Posted May 31, 2022 I guess so,i have the most recent version currently (V3.2.1) maybe it's not optimised for audio yet or something. 0 Share this post Link to post
LuciferSam86 Posted May 31, 2022 IIRC MIDI playback works only in 32 bit version? I have to check, tho. 1 Share this post Link to post
Tyler-J Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) you need something to play the midi files since you have the default fluidsynth enabled(timidy also works). I personally use vlc player but you could use other media players that support audio codecs, i almost forgot to mention you want to use the soundfont included in the gzdoom root folder! try that first Edited May 31, 2022 by Tyler-J 0 Share this post Link to post

Shibainumaster Posted June 1, 2022 I followed @URROVA's tutorial.Kinda worked out,now it visibly plays the MIDI (The progress line moves) but there is no sound. Dunno what to do 0 Share this post Link to post
Somniac Posted June 1, 2022 I have a similar problem. I had it working fine before, but I'm on a new machine now and when I try and play a MIDI in SLADE, it launches the Timidity player and nothing happens. This is after I had added a soundfont. Its an inconvenience but not a showstopper in my case, unless I really need to know what one specific MIDI sounds like. 0 Share this post Link to post

Kappes Buur Posted June 2, 2022 I followed URROVA's post back then and have been able to listen to midis in the various updated Slade3 64 bit versions since. Here is what I did: First I downloaded TiMidity++-2.15.0 and placed it into the Slade3 folder, now slade_3.2.0_x64 The TiMidity++-2.15.0 is just as downloaded, all at default The only difference from URROVA's suggestion is that my soundfonts are in a separate folder Then set up Slade3 in the Audio preference After that, the midi should play 0 Share this post Link to post

DOOM mapping enthusiast's path to the soundfont has no spaces. if its the case, put the path between quotes like this: soundfont "D:\SOUNDFONTS\soundfont.sf2" 0 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted June 7, 2022 I haven't been able to tell any single benefit from using the 64-bit version of Slade, which is the one with the MIDI playback issues. They play fine out-of-the-box with the 32-bit version so long as you plop a soundfont in there, I'm not sure what is gained by going through the extra hassle unless of course your machine doesn't support 32-bit programs. 1 Share this post Link to post
