Winter/Xmas Demos Month

All of a sudden, a demo month sprang up and unfurled
A festive and joyful event it promised to be
For it called for a wint'ry speedrunning spree

No run list to take down, no player to beat
For 'tis the season of giving, a time for a treat
All demos are welcome, all categories are cool
(As long as they're festive, and don't break any rules)

'Tis the season for some festive demos! This demo month is exclusively to focus on any wintery or xmas-themed WADs, mainly since I have half of H2H-XMas to go through, so why not expand this to more WADs and players?

 

The rules are simple this time:

• 1 point for posting any demo
• All categories welcome, TASes too!
• Please do use the appropriate source port/compatibility for the WAD.
• Please still record demos for WADs eligible for DSDA; this is typically anything on idgames or DSDA already, but may be extended to other submissions provided they are not expected to make it on idgames and aren't likely to receive updates.
• Please still post records only. There are plenty of WADs to table fill, so it's not likely we'll run out of any easy entries anytime soon. :D

 

Since I am uploading demos to DSDA, I will be updating the sheet whenever I upload demos to ensure all the demos are valid. Also, as this thread will end up used for a large number of WADs, please make sure to link the WAD on DSDA in your post whenever you post a new demo.

 

As prep for this month, I went around and looked for as many winter/snow/xmas themed WADs as I could. You may check the list here for ideas on what to run: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15Jrq6EZ8d6JMDE5iJfK-eO22c3diqDvZ6LfDICtB724/edit?usp=sharing. Do note that I included all kinds of advanced port stuff there as well; it's open for running of course, but may not be to your preference. Additionally, DM WADs, etc., are on there too, and may not be runnable if they have no exit. That said, it should be a good start for your winter wonderland demo adventure. :) Of course, if you find other WADs that aren't on the list that are winter or XMas themed, please let me know and I will add them.

I don't normally participate in demo months because of my particular brand of sickness preventing me from enjoying things in structured formats, but as a Winter Enjoyer, I was going to do cold wads anyway, so... :)

 

May I suggest adding the winter-themed eviternity maps to the list?

I believe they are in there on the second tab. :) Maps 11-15 is the ones I got.

This is a really cool map posted recently by user HotCoffee on doomworld. Very nice old-school style designs with tricky secrets and obstacles, but written in boom for added flair. Some annoying bugs make uvmax unfun to play, so I tried respawn :) First try, first exit.

The music for this map is too good, I almost couldn't handle it. The map is good, too! The manc and pinkies by the start confuse me for when to properly kill them. I'm sure it could be better.

I just made it through with iddqd, so I am going to start routing a pacifist for DiE09 Frozen Solace if that qualifies. It's not currently on the list
