Mappers you wish to see make a comeback

I'm still holding out hope that you two team up with Lutz for a Doom 2 sequel to NEIS. Also dreaming one day of a remastered End1 and End2 that comes with a fourth episode, 'End3' if you will.

That sounds awesome, although for now I hope Lutz is still quietly working on his Ancient Aliens mapset.

Jesper Krag Rasmussen aka Ixnatifual.

The original Titan was the wad that introduced me to ZDoom and I had never played a mapset quite like it up to that point. The original is showing its age a bit now, but the sequel is a tour de force of Hell levels with that extra GZ-flavoured spice. I'd love to see another episode of his "vanilla+" style of level design with the modern featureset.

Christopher Buteau should get off his laurels and lounging in all the money TNT made for him and make a megawad, purely him.  The dichotomy of the guy who made Habitat AND the first map of Icarus should be showed off for all the world to see, he at least owes us that.

Jim Flynn should too, for he is a lord.

And Drake should get back into mapping, it's clear at this point his music career ain't going that well

Anders Johnson, Erik Alm and Eternal for me.

I'd love to see Dannebubinga make a full comeback, after making a couple of maps last year.

Also, based on a hunch and some comments he has made since he started uploading playthroughs, I reckon Dario Casali is working on maps again right now.

(PS maybe we could have a greatest comebacks thread or list? I guess Insanegazebo would be top).

Has anyone said Drake O' Brian yet? I'd love to see a redemption arc for him after his 3 memorable but flawed offerings in TNT Evilution.

UH... well, congrats to everyone who put Lainos as one of their answers, because I think we accidentally performed some kind of forbidden summoning ritual lmao.

About time I bumped an old thread.

Michael Krause. Funny thing is that every time I mention Krause as one of my all-time fave mappers, I have to brag that I used to playtest some of his maps back in the '90s. Yeah, I jump up and down, waving my arms and screaming, "I used to playtest for Michael-fucking-Krause!!!!!!" Krause had a big influence on me, even though I never made maps in his style . . . yet!

Glen Payne and Marshall Bostwick. I've always been obsessed with Osiris. A TC that wasn't really a full TC but a very extensive mod, dripping with atmosphere, fun level design and great style. Would love to see them go crazy with our modern tools.

Sean Birkel.  Just because Fava Beans is so great.

Viggles. Among modern mappers, almost all of my faves are still active, and for all I know -- and hope! -- Viggles is, too, and a new masterpiece is already underway.

While nigh-impossible... Leo Martin Lim of the UAC_DEAD.wad fame, just because.

I would like to see more of Valkiriforce, because I really enjoyed R3DRUM recently. Can't understand why MtPain wasn't too keen on it, I'd thought it be right up his street, just like it was mine. *shrugs*

I can but well, unless it's like Mechadon or whoever, he'll probably get frustrated more than not.

-Just about anyone who worked on the IWADs other than John Romero, but epecially Tom Hall, and the Casalis.

-BPRD, honestly even if he doesn't release anything new, just seeing him post again on either here or PCKF would make my decade. At the very least it sounds like some people managed to get a hold of him through email in the past couple years, based on some comments on MtPain27 videos.

Erik Alm just because.

Vader, his ZDoom mapping is seriously influential and always appeals to me, they play very well too.

Dutch Devil, makes some absolutely brilliant maps, his contribution in the Community Chests are my favourite!

Cyb, absolutely loved Void and wish to have seen the craziness the sequel had.

Huay Pham, while I am aware he did plan on coming back with an updated DVII, still gotta give him a shoutout here.

You can lie to yourself and think that the Darkwave/D-D theory is real that’ll work fine

I know it's incredibly unlikely, but a Sandy Petersen take on Knee Deep in the Dead to give us a 100% Petersen (original, three-episode) DOOM would make my millennium.

Not sure if someone's commented this already, but I'd rather see Sandy do the entirety of DOOM 2. With ample time to set the atmosphere.

A full one-author version of the original DOOM feels more like it belongs to either Romero (Sigil feels more like Hell++) or Tom Hall.

Though for the OG devs my personal wish is for a Romero D2 Megawad, in whatever theme he would choose.

Back to the original question: Erik Alm, BPRD, Mark Klem
