What was your Doom moment of the 2023?

Idk if is to soon to do this but I wanted to know what this community considers to be the "Doom Moment 2023".

For me, it was when Litude discovered the source midis of Doom I & II, and making the biggest finding with E1M1 being actually inspired by Master of Puppets!

I usually just casually play through random Doom mods but this last week I decided to finally play the through the original 4 games (Doom, Doom II, Final Doom, Doom 64) for the first time. It’s been a thrill and very cool getting to the end of all of them. That’s my big Doom moment or rather moments of 2023.

my doom moment was discovering doom and then telling friends as well as realising that doom 1993 is better that doom 3 also getting the bfg edition of doom 3 just for doom 1 and 2

Between the climate crisis, the generative AI fad, the Ukrainian war, the genocide in Palestine, Elon Musk, the victory of fascism in Argentina... Yes, there have been a few doom moments in 2023.
But anyway, we are still alive. As long as we are, we have a chance to do good things.

The peak moment was when the Gaylord got partially flooded and I had lost 2 hours of sleep before my flight back home.

 

Nah but fr Quakecon was amazing. I don’t think any other moment compares to all the interactions I had with all the doomers there. If I had to single out a highlight, had to be eating some homemade BBQ with some of the crew, great times and food literally goated with the sauce.

When I woke up one morning last week, checked Youtube, and saw someone post a playthrough of the first couple levels of Eviternity 2.  I thought it was a Plutonia 3-type shitpost situation, then a friend of mine sent me a PC Gamer article on it.  WAD's pretty good, turns out.

The 30th anniversary and the release of Eviternity 2. Months after I got burned out with Doom, it got me back into it and also made me leave GZdoom for once and try DSDADoom. I'm a boomer now.

for my brother and i, we publicly published our first maps in the [10 lines genocide community project] - e2m10: blue moonlight (bro's), e3m19: green sarnie (bro's), and e4m45: klutzy kite (mine). we had other moments too, like publishing maps for the [ramp2023 community project] which was aimed at newbie mappers like us - map287: scarlet sky (bro's), map286: tiny tangle (mine). and we also started learning making midis too via the free [signal online midi editor]. so a happy doom year for us, and hopefully for all upcoming years too! :)

I don't play deathmatches or pay a lot of attention to other Doomers because of my other activities. The mainstay of 2023 for me is uploading more maps than ever (so far) on ModDb...
