Serathis Posted September 15 Both for newcomer and map. A fairly hard level with 4 wings, but each wing represents one of the vanilla mapstyles: techbase, hellbase, city, hell. Fairly high on the details too! 0 Share this post Link to post
Serathis Posted September 15 This one feels a lot more like a Half Life 1 map, but it's still a fairly well made episode. 2 Share this post Link to post
omnibot Posted September 15 Master usage of vanilla textures in House of Dead Skin. Excellent secret hunting, too. Combat is medium spicy and nicely split between set pieces and incidentals. 3 Share this post Link to post
Serathis Posted September 17 So far two episodes of somewhat Doomcute levels. I'd say they are well made, not mindblowing but I enjoyed the detail. 2 Share this post Link to post
aJynks Posted September 19 (edited) I think that maybe this mod should be considered. Legacy of Rust Enhanced Content - Gameplay Mod and Mapper Resource. I'm not sure if mods like this can be nominated, but I guess if not this post can just be ignored. Basically this is two things... It is a kind of randomiser that will insert Legacy of Rust monsters, weapons and ammo into existing wads. So you can play any wad with this and see new content in it. The weapons, btw, do not over ride the existing weapons. So you still have access to the traditional Plasma and BFG as well as the new Rust Weapons. You can load this mod and simply play any older mod and get that "rust" feeling. That alone is awesome, but the really cool thing that I think is actually the more interesting thing is that this mod can be used as a mapper resource to easily add in Rust Monsters, Weapons and Ammo to any map you make. Bringing the new Rust content into the general mapping ecosystem without the need for the mappers to support the new mapping standard that came in rust. Again, these monsters, weapons and ammo are additive, so you are not replacing anything if you want to use the new monsters and weapons in your maps. So we have a pretty cool mod here, that is also a mod which adds to the entire modding scene and could possibly be used in many mods in the future. 0 Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted September 25 (edited) As if we didn't have enough 1-person megawads.....I dunno if this'll make it into 24 for 24 but anyway this is well-worth looking at.. 2 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted September 27 (edited) +1 for Astral Globetrot +1 for 0x0, at least for the technical achievement +1 for KEX Engine and ID24 At least worth for a nomination, a pretty great classic "The Way Petersen Did" megawad. I thought it was already mentioned... 1 Share this post Link to post

Easily one of the most delightfully creative sets I've played in a long time. Pecca's set dressing is overflowing with charm! His worlds are varied and creative, and he constantly finds new ways to mix things up! He fills his locales with things to find, and it makes them a delight to explore! The 5-minute secret is a neat challenge and a compelling reward. I would die for that bunny TwT. The NG+ implementation, dividing Doom 1 and Doom 2 style gameplay, and the constant shifting of previous locations are incredibly clever! Add in an all-star studded list of midi composers and it makes this one a no-brainer. Hands down, it's one of the best sets of the year (at least in this humble chairs opinion!) and a beautiful and timely testament to the creativity of the human spirit. well done Pecca. Viper758 Posted October 1 +1 for Dominus Diabolicus. I feel the author accomplished what he set out to do with this WAD and really enjoyed everything about it. 1 Share this post Link to post
FragsBunny Posted October 2 The Edge of Time. At this point, the author considers his mod already finished, with full 3 episodes. 1 Share this post Link to post
Bald Cyberdemon Posted October 3 (edited) For the gameplay mod award: I nominate Too Much Break Action! A dehextra mod that gives every weapon besides the SSG the same break reload style as the SSG. 1 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 3 Apparently Brotherhood of Ruins 2024 hasn't been mentioned yet? How comes? 5 Share this post Link to post
Serathis Posted October 5 If Escape From Hell was somewhat Doomcute, Astral Globtrot reaches levels previously thought impossible. Also there's a pretty neat variety of levels. 1 Share this post Link to post
obake Posted October 6 Can I nominate a person for mapper of the year? If so, I choose +1 to @DavidN, for his amazing output of the RAMP series, which to do this day has over 600 maps in a few years, yet has been moderated successfully by him and his team, and all of which are ultra-charming and well put together. 2 Share this post Link to post
EyeBallTank Posted October 6 Is it wrong if I bring up a project I did a map for, even if there's lot of other people involved? 4 Share this post Link to post

I guess someone might call this Plutonian but the design goals are different and is a fair bit harder overall, imo Hey there! Just saw this now haha :P thanks for the mention here! Didn’t know someone thought I was good enough to be associated with cacowards :P glad you enjoy my maps! cheers! 5 Share this post Link to post
Kam Tovalski Posted October 12 +1 for 'Into Sandy's Cities' by @GermanPeter Great kind of alternated of DOOM2, where every map has some reference to original resource, but with twists here and there. Fantastic example of 'Cosy WAD' to chill and have a good time, with some 'GOTCHA!' moments, like Sandy used to make. Strong representative of Vanilla-compatible part of Doom wadsphere in 2024 5 Share this post Link to post
JackDBS Posted October 13 +1 for Umbra, +1 Mapper of the Year for @baja blast rd. This is something truly special. 5 Share this post Link to post
