doomspoons3d Posted March 2 Hi, Been quite inspired lately from replaying Doom 1 and 2, and I wanted to do some 3D models as tribute (and as 3D printables!) Working through every enemy currently. I'll post progress here periodically. I wanted to be around 80% faithful to the original designs, making changes here and there (like the Imp not being noseless) The prints and raw model files (with pbr textures) will be available on my Gumroad.https://doomspoons.gumroad.com/ Feel free to give feedback/ideas! 31 Share this post Link to post
DavidN Posted March 3 These look professional quality - really nice interpretations of the sprites! 2 Share this post Link to post
SitarA Posted March 3 (edited) The remade imp body looks alright but I'm not really shure about it's face. It looks abit too zombie/revenant-ish. You might be better off using that as a base for a Lost Soul or a Revenant head instead, otherwise you might end up with 3 demons with a similar skull-like face. 0 Share this post Link to post
Orchid87 Posted March 3 (edited) Finally! A Doomguy that looks like the original Adrian's sketch and model, as opposed to Don Punchatz artwork which Bethesda uses for the classic Doomguy reference nowadays. 7 Share this post Link to post

Mannnn somewhat unrelated but why didn't they go with the Adrian model for Classic Doomguys armor in Doom Eternal and other places! It looks so much better! Anyways, these models are amazing! People said Classic Dooms demons would be too silly looking to be intimidating but you did an AMAZING job turning that Imp 3D and making it look threatening! 1 Share this post Link to post

Most people probably saw actual Doomguy sprite in action only in Doom II ending sequence. 0 Share this post Link to post

Yeah im aware, but man the Adrian / ingame version looks so much cooler and it makes me sad :( But oh well. 1 Share this post Link to post

This is true, didn't consider the skull motif lapsing into potential visual homogeny. Revenant will be completely eyeless and the lost soul could be tweaked a bit to be less like a conventional skull. Who knows. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. To be honest this entire project is birthed out of pure spite from how much I dislike the classic skin in Eternal - the original clay model clears in terms of being a memorable design (imo) so I'm glad there are fellow doom fans who share a level of love for the true Doomguy design :> On 3/3/2024 at 1:30 AM, DavidN said: These look professional quality - really nice interpretations of the sprites! Gifty Posted March 6 These look utterly fantastic so far, really like your interpretation of the imp. 0 Share this post Link to post
doomspoons3d Posted March 11 Doomguy is finished. Gonna print him tonight. 360 render: 4 Share this post Link to post
TheMagicMushroomMan Posted March 12 I love that Imp, especially his face. He would fit well in some kind of DOOM/Blood crossover. Probably the best Imp I've seen anybody create. 1 Share this post Link to post
Doom Mastermind Posted March 12 You could be inspired by the latex models they made for some monsters. If you don't know what I mean, these are: 5 Share this post Link to post
DiceByte Posted March 15 Damn you made the imp 1993 look good in 3d. I thought it was impossible, but you did it! Good job! And the Doomguy also looks awesome. I want a mini version of that model on my shelf. I’d like to see what you would do with the other demons! 1 Share this post Link to post
doomspoons3d Posted March 23 (edited) Been trying to conjure up some poses for Doomguy. Surprisingly hard to pose with how bulky he is. Will update later with how the prints come out. 1 Share this post Link to post

They're valid, but I think the Imp would be drawn with nostrils if they had more resolution to work with. On 3/12/2024 at 3:10 PM, TheMagicMushroomMan said: I love that Imp, especially his face. doomspoons3d Posted March 24 Prints came out well, doing a photoshoot now. Here's some renders in the meantime. 3 Share this post Link to post
doomspoons3d Posted March 24 There we go. Tempted to do more poses, but I need to move onto the Zombieman and Shotgunner. 2 Share this post Link to post
ivymagnapinna Posted March 24 Pleasure to come across you here, Doomspoons! These models all look great so far, I love Doomguy's especially, he's got some really nice shapes to him. You've probably thought of this already but it would be cool to reference the MARBFAC2 texture when you're doing the Archvile, I love the weird face tubes it has here and it would be cool as hell to see those translated into 3d. 0 Share this post Link to post

Likewise! And yeah, this wall tex will absolutely be my primary reference for the Archvile's face - very gigeresque 3 Share this post Link to post

WASFDDDDD Posted March 25 (edited) Why do these remind me of classic DND figures? Like the kind of plastic figurines they used to sell in the 90s for gaming tables. They look so unrefined, but so charming because of that. 0 Share this post Link to post
aRottenKomquat Posted March 25 Okay this is really cool. I've long wanted to 3D print a Doom chess set but I'm not that good a modeler and there aren't really any quality models that I could find. I wanted to export models from Voxel Doom but the format isn't something I knew how to work with. This might fit the bill perfectly! 0 Share this post Link to post

However, the rest of it is looking good so far. Plus, once you have done the baron of hell, you can recolour it to match the hell knight and call it a day (and a hell knight). 0 Share this post Link to post

Oh yeah, haven't even sculpted the hands yet - worry not, its just a basemesh remnant :) Definitely going to go with beefcake claws, I just like to give everything human hands to start with to have something i can fuck around with And for the hell knight, I could recolour it but I want to make it somewhat distinct whilst still looking like the '94 design Edited March 31 by doomspoons3d 0 Share this post Link to post
doomspoons3d Posted April 6 Baron is almost done. Yellow eyes or green eyes? 4 Share this post Link to post
DiceByte Posted April 6 (edited) Flip a coin of something to decide. Or just choose. It ain’t that important of a detail. Or maybe it is. I don’t know. Maybe yellow eyes? 0 Share this post Link to post

The models you have so far look really impressive, and I like how much detail you put into the barons legs. I always wished later Doom games made the barons and hell knights look more like satyrs rather than roided out imps lol. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dr. DiegO Posted April 6 (edited) I already saw this on Newgrounds, but again, fantastic work. 0 Share this post Link to post
