[Heretic CP] Heretic Heremembered - recreate Corvus's adventure from memory!

Recommended Posts

Gonna take E3M8! Been a long while since I last played Heretic, and I believe the final boss level should be easy enough level for me to remake.

I'd take the docks or the dungeons, I haven't played Heretic THAT much so this could be fun lmao... (ironic as I admit I always felt like "HOW CAN YOU FORGET XYZ" when playing the Doom versions of this project...)

Gonna say that calling it CP may not be a great idea.

A game I hardly ever played, and even when I tried to get into it, I just couldn't... this should be fun.

...eh why the hell not? Could you mark me down for e1m8 please?

I played Heretic like a month and a half ago, lol!

If I have time and feel like I remember any of the maps that remain later then I'll absolutely participate. But for now I don't know if I can. Good luck to all mappers!

If I take American McGee's map, does it have to be a DM map, or can I give it an ending?

Well... I went ahead and already worked onto and completed E3M1 :P where should I submit now? xD

In this thread, as a post. Can also DM me, I suppose, but I'd prefer the former.

You can make it beatable, sure. I'd like that myself, but I will leave the choice to you.

Since another user was more decisive and picked the docks, it's the dungeons for you.

Thanks for the quick interest, I will update the OP ASAP.

Nice, then I'll take E6M3.

Here's what i remember from E5M1, it's actually passed very long time since i take a look at any of the serpent riders extra episode maps, so i don't know how much my memory goes well for this game...

E5M1fm.zip

The starting room is what i am most aware of, as well as the proto-slaughter gameplay. No DM starts btw

I genuinely think I mixed this up with another map but I'm HOPING I remembered at least the starting room of this map. I can tell you now, this probably is ~90% incorrect. XD

Thanks for the submissions, you all are quick!

When it comes to the maps themselves, I'd say they are mostly fine/finished, however:

-E2M2 has missing textures/homs(Protip: press F4 in Doom Builder to find things like that). Also, in the last room, the center platform sinks without changing texture/effect, is that one intentional XD?

-E3M1 can only be ran in GZDoom, because DSDA only allows 8 ambient sounds per level. Please bear that in mind henceforth.

So far so good, I'd say. But please test in DSDA(or, if you're feeling fancy, Crispy Heretic, Chocolate Heretic, or the DOS executable).

What are the rules for how many submissions you are allowed?

As many as you'd like; you simply need to adhere to the rule of the 3-day time limit.

That's quite an oddball. I use Crispy Heretic, and it runs the map perfectly fine. Not sure why would DSDA keep a static limit to begin with instead of removing it. Should I edit and resend the map, in that case?

I suppose that the best course of action for now is to keep both the unedited and edited version of the map and also send a ticket to the DSDA crew. Let's hope they respond to our pleas positively.

Ok, here's my take on e6m3, plus a keyhunt sidequest to exit the level.

EDIT: Oh God, what have I done to American's beautiful layout?

Here's what I remember of E1M8: A very underwhelming closer to an episode. Probably the only reason why I remember the map even in the slightest. I only put in player starts, since I never played Heretic deathmatch.
