JustAthel Posted August 16 Huge lists! Thanks, Gez. I'll cross-reference it with the files and spreadsheet we got and get back to you! 0 Share this post Link to post

JustAthel Posted September 17 A month later, and I wanted to let you guys know that I am still working on the compilation! There's an unexpected EOF issue I'm having when putting all this in a WAD file, but I think I know where that's coming from, so it's not that bad. This is currently without the MISCTEX textures put into the mix. I'm trying to get this version of the pack done before October, as well as trying to brainstorm some ideas on how to make the process easier for future iterations of Pydd. Does anyone know if there's a way people could maybe upload files to, say, a Google Drive or something of the sort? It'd be cool to automate the process wherever it can be automated, but my knowledge on how to do so is rather limited. 4 Share this post Link to post
Bengaltiger1 Posted September 17 I managed to save almost all the textures in the thread at one point and was up to date... But lo and behold my 1TB Hard Drive broke and I was back to square 1. I was crushed and never got the motivation back, and due to how time consuming it was I quit in the end. Seeing you do this along with DoomGappy I must say I am eternally grateful for your efforts! People worked hard on the textures and this is to ensure they are validated in equal measures 3 Share this post Link to post

JustAthel Posted October 8 Hello everybody! PyddTex continues to evolve and the headaches that come with such a big compilation continue to keep Advil in business. As you guys might know, I've been trying to keep up with all the updated posts on the PYDT thread AND slowly organize the textures I already have, and I have devised a solution -- why not allow the community to submit what they have? I bring to you a Google Drive link one that leads to a folder where the community can upload textures from PYDT for them to be compiled in PYDD! Here's the link to the submission folder! Because there are thousands of textures, I am turning it over to the community and asking for some assistance in helping to archive these textures and also to help with making these actually usable. The main things that are killing me at the moment are renaming each patch so that it doesn't overwrite anything from the IWAD, and splitting the animated stuff into individual frames. Of course, I could (and have) been doing it on my own, but with the rate that textures keep being added and edited, I fear I might not be able to keep up. This should ensure that no texture goes missing, and that every texture has an equal chance of being used (sans the AI ones, which Jimmy has made the official statement that textures in that thread should be human made) and implemented easily. If you're interested, @DoomGappy has also been so generous enough to make a text channel regarding PyddTex on his server, Hell Keep, which you should totally join if you'd like to keep up with any behind the scenes progress! When I started this, I massively underestimated just how much effort would be required to ensure everything is usable in the many formats that Doom modding requires. In fact, this all started because I needed a simple bookshelf texture LOL. But as the project is coming to a massive turning point in its span, there are new ways that I have to think about tackling this, and the Google submission is one of the ways I've devised. So, please! If you have any textures or flats that are missing, submit them! All I ask is that the textures are classified by the name of the submitter and the name of the person who originally made the textures (i.e. if I were submitting missing textures made by JohnDoe, I'd name a folder "JustAthel - JohnDoe lost"). Thank you guys for following, and I hope to get some more news on the pk3 release soon(-ish)! 4 Share this post Link to post
Faceman2000 Posted October 10 Just a suggestion: you should make folders in there for the contributors that you already have sorted. It’ll get messy quickly if people are just reposting the stuff you’ve already compiled. I’ll be happy to thrown mine in there but don’t see a need to if you already have all my stuff. 1 Share this post Link to post
JustAthel Posted October 11 I have that actually in the subdirectory above that folder. I figure it won't be too much of a hassle if there's duplicates, as I'll be able to sort through what's already in there and what isn't once I have the main archive sorted. Besides there's always the chance that I miss something obscure and then miss out on being able to download it 1 Share this post Link to post
