Finished my map, so I'm crossposting it from the project's Discord server.

Link for those who'd like to try it.

 

Slot: 05

Map name: Coldspot

Midi: Rompi, by Ribbiks

Difficulty: Medium

Commentary: This floor seems to be have been abandoned mid-construction. It's cold.

Entrance: Lift

Exit: Teleporter

 

All difficulties and co-op stuff implemented. Solo-net is pretty hard, but it should hopefully be fun in co-op.

Is this supposed to be like TWHL Tower? Where a bunch of mappers get together to collaborate to make different floors of a tower? I've been thinking of doing one with the GZDoom engine instead. But I wouldn't want to step on your toes

I think the premise is the same, but in doom. We're using MBF21, but you could join. Do you haver experience mapping for this format?

I would say this map is around 99% finished, just needs some co-op playtesting and rebalancing following that.

Slot: 21

Map name: Neglected Space

Midi: Resident Evil 4 save room theme, sequenced by James Flynn

Difficulty: Easy

Commentary: Another strange floor of the tower. It forgot what it was supposed to be.

Entrance: Teleport pad of some kind

Exit: Elevator

All difficulties and co-op stuff implemented. Co-op untested, on solonet it can be quite nasty.

I have made many space restricted maps and all of em have been a blast.
Sign me up for slot 28
Space restricted coop maps will probably be really fun or really annoying.

Am I allowed to use a sky in a traditional way saying that the map is in a tower.

Yoo, just a head's up since I have map 27 - my map ends with a teleporter instead of a lift/stairs. Shouldn't really affect you much, but I thought I'd let you know before you start mapping and have your map start with a lift/stairs

Sorry, but I don't really understand the question. I recommend you join the discord so I can look into it with more detail, and avoid flooding this doomworld thread. But to at least try answering the question, i'd say avoid using sky textures altogether

So I kinda just built this map as like 1 stream of consciousness. Is it good? Probably not. Is it 100% beatable? Yes.

We are officialy HALFWAY DONE ! we now have 20 out of the 40 floors built !

Would be hilarious if the megawad ended with the vanilla Tower of Babel map and ending. XD

It could well take place on top of the building. No walls around the arena, to add to the rooftop feeling. Maybe replace cyberdemon by lost soul. And vice versa.

 

Oh yeah, and I'd vote for a cover of “Don't Let Me Down” by The Beatles for the map's soundtrack, as they played it (twice) during their legendary rooftop concert in 1969.
