Terry gigawad concept

Think of this as the sequel to UACMN2.wad by Jack101, but with 64 maps instead of 32

Basically it features:

  1. The same shop feature
  2. Better boss scripting (e.g. they don't teleport away from you less than a millisecond before your hitscan weapon hits them)
  3. Tons of new weapons (mostly from realm667)
  4. Complete overhaul of the most common terry enemies
    1. Dickfails have the body of a wolfenstein SS, but with different clothing and weaponry
    2. Romeromen have the legs and weaponry of an arachnotron
    3. Cabbage patch kid dolls have the body of a pinky demon
    4. Psycho heads have the flame effect of a lost soul
    5. Much more


I'd LOVE to see UACMN3 this year if possible

I absolutely suck at coding so I doubt I'll make the script, I might make some sprites though

Terry wads fell out of the collective community's consciousness for a VERY good reason... actually, to say there was just one reason severely undermines just how bad of an idea it would be to contribute to the ""genre"", reasons that I trust I need not spell out in this thread.

gigawads are already bad enough, we don't need one exclusively populated by a dead meme that was never that funny to begin with

Every terrywad on idgames was quarantined in /themes/terrwads. There are 157 zip files there, and no further ones are accepted. If we assume some got missed and very generously round up to 200, there are still more wads for Hexen alone (238 zip files) than that. So yeah, a little off of 50%.

I dont even think a medium to large team of mappers could crank out *64* maps together much less ones that requires the insane ZDoom shenanigans that are expected for most Terrywads. good luck with that though

To be clear, a lot more were *submitted* during the time were terrywads were "popular", but they either got purged or rejected, usually for malicious content. And probably more got made that didn't even get submitted to idgames. But as for what is on the archive right now, 0.50% is probably a closer estimation.

Focus your attention on creating something that'd actually be worthwhile, instead of something that'd be forgotten by everybody in about a week.

157 submissions out of 30k or so overall isn't "50%" my guy. Not sure who you learned your Math from, but the guy clearly has ripped you off.

They really don't. This idea sounds aggressively awful and i have no idea why anyone would play it save for morbid curiosity.

 

Nobody likes ideas guys. If you want to contribute something why not actually learn to make something worthwhile.

If you are the one planning to make this wad then go for it. But I would highly suggest you to cut down the number of maps. A short but quality wad is much better than a 64 map long wad. Also, making 64 maps for 1 project is much harder than it looks and will most likely lead to a burnout and loss of interest in the game and even if you are able to pull it off, most people won't play your map due to the weird idea and the immense length of it.
