Classic Doom - New Update on Steam

Didn't see anyone post it yet. Doom and Doom II are now combined, new "Legacy of Rust" episode (16-map collaboration between id Software, Nightdive, and MachineGames) with new enemies and weapons, a "new Deathmatch map pack featuring 25 maps", online multiplayer support for up to 16 players, in-game mod browser, option for Andrew Hulshult's OST with new Doom II tracks, etc.

Weird, Steam's telling me Doom 1 and 2 are no longer available to buy, but I can see the store page and it has indeed been updated with all those features!

I was confused at first, but the more I read, the more I think this port sounds pretty neat

 

Boom Compatibility, a mod browser, a whole NEW episode with new weapons and demons, an optional modern soundtrack from Andrew Hulshult, cross-play online coop, etc.

 

I'll keep an eye on this...

Off-topic to what you were saying but... Any chance for Console players to use Community mods is a chance worth making.

 

I remember when Skyrim SE and Fallout 4 allowed Console mods, it was one of the best features of any game for me. Just fiddling around with Armour mods in Fallout 4, or downloading the Unofficial patch, so the games were actually playable. Obviously it's still better on PC, but I love that they did it nevertheless.

QuakeCon starts in a couple of hours, their remaster announcements usually leak out an hour or two early due to the difficulty of syncing up all the parts of the promotional machine and store pages going up a bit early.

I'm recognizing a lot of the new demons and texture resources in that launch trailer as cut content from pre-release Doom 2 and the Doom 1 Alpha build. Far out!
