I downloaded some wads from the browser on PS5 and all work fine except My House. Crashed the game.

MyHouse is a GZDoom mod. The minimum compatibility for maps is MBF21.

Players can respawn only on other team mates who aren't visible to enemies (this happens automatically), all inventory is kept on respawn.

So basically a Halo-like Coop respawn?

You know, stay out of danger (or finish the fight) and your teammates will respawn.

Nice.

Yeah, Night Dive should create a upload rule on which PWADs are permitted on their internal server.

Pretty much. Same thing we did for Quake2 as well.

Great, it is already on Steam if you had doom 1, not sure what happens if you only had doom 2 as my copy of doom 2 is still the previous engine. Is this where someone asks what are you waiting for people go upload your wads in-game?

Edit: Think the midi-packs for Plutonia/TNT deserve to be in recommended mods for those 2 wads, but guess everyone who wants to use them will get them anyway.

I was contemplating on buying Doom II, but then this happens.

I'm all for this, I'd hate to see random people upload other creator's work and then take the credit they don't deserve, not to mention the potential of shovelware-quality WADs that could be pushed out.

@Edward850 Hey btw I've noticed that the remaster is on GOG, and the store page mentions about a free upgrade, but I haven't gotten any kind of update or received a new game package yet.

Maybe an oversight?

No pressure, I already own the game on XBox too so I'm playing off that on the meanwhile.

Would Legacy of Rust be compatible with sourceports?

MBF21 ports work going by the WADINFO lump. Haven't run into any issues so far playing on dsda.

its weird that zdoom would be required today for a feature that was present in doom 1 back in 1993

Why weird? Lots of stuff in the original game were hardcoded because that was simpler for the devs; this way they didn't need to code a way to externalize this data.

This was true for the intermission maps, but also actor behavior, level progression, etc. Port developers then went into implementing ways to customize that, and that's how ZDoom got DECORATE, MAPINFO, and its intermission scripts.

So I guess if you own either Doom OR Doom II but not both on GOG, you still have to pay for the whole package.

Imma still buy it though, mostly for the new episode.

The language on GOG.com is "Worth noting: If you owned DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II, you’ll receive DOOM + DOOM II for free." They use "and/or", so you shouldn't need both.

If you don't see it in your library, try https://www.gog.com/user/refresh (it might not work the first time, if it fails then wait a minute or two and try again, I eventually got mine this way).

See if you can refresh your web library on GOG. Someone on GOG.com shared the refresh link here and so far it worked for me but some others are still not seeing the KEX remaster appear in their library yet.

Seems like I was a fool, the monsters and weapons are actually new, but you can't have the Plasma and BFG at the same time as the new weapons.

Also lol the Heatwave is that same scifi toy gun but it mirrors the lower half.

Yet, Night Dive still hasn't fixed many of the mapping mistakes and oddities from the pre-Legacy of Rust maps, as those still exist since 1993 to 1996 (2010 and 2019 for No Rest for The Living and John Romero's Sigil respectively), like the stuck shotgunner from Underhalls, some map things across Doom 1 & 2 being unused due to them not being set to any difficulties, the southwest teleporter in The Citadel not working in I'm Too Young To Die and Hey Not Too Rough skill levels, etc.

Given that Night Dive has now taken over the development of Doom 1 & 2's remaster from id Software's previous developer partner Nerve Software as part of changing the engine from Unity to the KEX engine, some more quality of life improvements for the pre-Legacy of Rust maps would be appreciated.

I guess only @Kaiser & @sponge can agree on terms on how map fixes for the pre-Legacy of Rust maps can be implemented.

I think it's really cool of Bethesda to not only release the new episode (16 whole levels!) in a free update, but also as a WAD file, for easy source port usage. Making the master levels all one wad was really cool, too!

I too wonder, what stops them from fixing the old map/graphic errors? Demo compatibility?

It's called id1.wad. You can find it in the "rerelease" folder of your ultimate doom folder.

I succeded in uncapping the fps with a console command, however, i dont recommend it, since it affects your mouse sensitivity.

So there are a bunch of wad files there. I'm guessing maybe Doom 1 and Doom 2 are now in their own iwad and the others are left as-is?

id1.wad

id1-res.wad

id1-weap.wad

id24res.wad

iddm1.wad

nerve.wad

sigil.wad

plutonia.wad

tnt.wad

masterlevels.wad

that's interesting, I wonder why it was set up this way

Amusingly enough, GOG's offline installer for this is named "setup_osiris_2.0"... Kinda odd.

I played through a bit of the new episode, and I'm already lost on map 2. I guess that's what happens when I haven't played Doom properly in so long. The id Vault is a gold mine!
