What is this "VBW" logo you find sometimes in levels?

Just wondering what the significance of this is:

I would assume its more a joke reference than anything since you have to license actual companies for real logos.

My best guess is a play on BMW or VW. More likely BMW since they have a long history of build lots of different things beyond luxury cars like boat motors and stuff too.
