Post your Doom textures!

I need some help with only one thing. I made some brick overlays, but I also wanted to make some broken brick ones, to add more variety. I am satisfied with bk05 (big brick with cracks), but not really able to do anything to the other brick types. Would anyone be interested in lending a hand?

I just created a thread to announce my project so I don't spam the thread any longer. There are some more screenshots there and I plan on creating a map with the textures at a later date. I appreciate the help you have offered me here and I'll see you there if you feel like helping.

I made some more Doom textures out of Keen graphics. Four of them are from Keen 4, and the last one is from Keen 5. Most of these are more suited for wall textures, and should be repeated once vertically so they can be 128px tall.

I'm planning to eventually make a Keen texture pack. There's still plenty of graphics ripe for Doomifying. I also thought about tackling some Catacomb 3-D textures but they aren't as interesting as Keen's (and don't tile vertically).

Some textures I made for my texture pack, but I feel like are universal enough to be used by others elsewhere. These recolors probably have been done by others over the years too. Doom Paletted.

I've also made a load of other custom textures for shops and things, as my map is set in a shopping mall, but these are the ones I had the most fun making so far.

Expanding on this. I like to make many layered templates that allow me to modify simple parameters to create new things for many uses. I created one for these types of switches to make them many colors and different color matches. I made them indexed to doom palette, but if you go to RGB, possibilities are endless. Just create two variants of the switch lights, a dark and a light one, following the same outline and you can create anything. 

 

I also use a naming convention to fit doom's 8 characters.

 

Sw = switch

1-4 = number of the color of the faceplate

First letter of the upper light

First letter of the lower light

On or off

I expanded just a little bit more on this. I noticed that I'd forgotten to draw the light of the buttons affecting the borders of the switch, so I corrected it. I also made the same thing for the other type of light switch. I really like the pink and blue switch. Now I just gotta learn how to put these in game.

Valknuts are good.

They were used by viking "pagans" (Odin worshipers) during the time they were raiding English Christian temples from Denmark.

All that Satanic iconography is pagan anyhow, so its thematically appropriate.

So... In my sprite making journey, I came across some problems with the scale of the things. How tall should I make this railing? How about this door, how many pixels tall should it be? These questions led me to this post about the shapes and sizes of everything in doom (There's even a realistic size mod in the post, which might be really fun to try out).

So I tested the line of sight and the shooting line, and it is exactly according to the post. So I took the liberty of grabbing the image from the post and remaking it in order to better suit players and modders' needs on sizing objects at all times. I also added some lines to aid the player to see it visually better. Here's what it looks like:

Notice the matches between the ruler, the crosshair on the screenshot and the line of sight. The little nub on doomguy's sprite is the center. To use it simply add the texture you want to see in your image editor of choice and scale it 4 times. Place the bottom of it above the ground level line. Images and gimp project also available inside Doom texture ruler.zip.

A small (read: shitty) edit of a ZZ_WOLF texture that I did with the Valknut.

 

All in all, I think it's better than the triangles that Bethesda gave us for the unity port.|
